Spacious is definitely not a word that describes this place! However, what it lacks in space it makes up for in character. They have a selection of whiskeys/malts that would satisfy most purists. Oh, and there is a lot of "stuff" hanging all over the walls and ceiling. Like musical instruments and farming tools. In here you will not find flat panel TVs or loud music like you find in other pubs/cafés. But you will find an interesting mix of patrons and one hell of a barman - who happens to be the owner. Wil Lange knows all about service - and a lot about whiskey and cocktails. He will take good care of you while you sit and chat with the locals and visiting foreigners. I noticed recently that The Little One has a presence on the internet now. They have their own Instagram account and a Facebook fan page with quite a following of loyal fans. They may brand themselves as a speakeasy bar now, but this place will always be a dive bar to me. Don't let that prevent you from visiting a place with great atmosphere and good people.

The bar is brown and smoking is not disallowed. The bartender has been working for something like 50 years, so this guy's got stories. Stop on by, but don't expect a great crowd. For the first time ever I have walked into a bar in Germany and they had run out of beer. I mean come on, how is that even possible in Beer nation ? Mixed drinks like JD & Coke were minimum €7.50 and above and the bar was also pretty empty when we got there with Rock music from the 90's playing loud. The waitress was lovely and friendly but the guy at the bar seemed a bit grumpy and not interested in serving us. I may come back here again another time and see. It's saving grace is the opening times. 2 am during the week and upto 5am on weekends.

In fact they are probably butcher-sized (not that I have found any pubs in Australia that actually serve butchers). I actually quite like these small beers, though for some reason I would prefer a little more. Anyway, this bar is pretty much dedicated to the guy that geeks the world over love and admire. In fact, if you are a geek, and you are in Cologne then this is a bar that you should check out. I knew about it, but didn't actually know where it was, that is until I was wandering through the back alleys of the old city and discovered it. Okay, it isn't hugely geeky, it just has a heap of pictures of Einstein covering the wall, but it's still pretty cool.

When we arrived we saw that nearly every table outside was reserved, but were told it was okay for us to take a seat. The seating area and walk way are all brick which gives it a lovely feel. The view from the patio was amazing with the (what I believe was a) church. We all ordered spritzes, mine aperol and my friends looked like it had some kind of berry or pomegranate. I always love aperol but the spritz she ordered was so good, that I got another. We got an order of fries at the spot next door (I don't remember the name) but they brought it out for us which was nice. We then found ourselves in the middle of a meeting lol, I guess that's what the reserved tables were for. They didn't seem to mind or notice, and several of the gentlemen had dogs that were so relaxed on the patio (dogs are always a plus). There was some inside seating too, but it was so nice that everyone was on the patio. Thanks for a great happy hour!
