I had ordered the wrong size ( my fault) and they were so nice to accept it for exchange - I was surprised they had the replacement ready for me when I walked in. All the staff were astonished at a web order customer from California stepped into the store in Oregon. Guess not too many people do that.. Left with more my original list - lots of flies, DWR finisher, and more skagit tips... They were very nice and helped me select the flies for the coho salmon on the Siuslaw and Alsea rivers... Definitely a must go to for the fly angler when you visit the area.

His equipment is pristine and as you know the scenery on the river was beautiful. Ron is the kind of guy that I would like to have a beer with after a day of fishing. He supplied all the gear needed, snacks, water and we even pulled off the river where he cooked us up a fantastic lunch. We come up to Oregon envy summer to visit family and I will most definitely use his services again. Next year I can't wait to bring my 3 year old out with us!

What an amazing day on the water!!! Captain Eliot knows all the spots - the shallow waters of the Ipwich River and estuary, a solid rip, and the outer & inner shoreline waters of the North Shore. My son is a fly-fishing novice, so Captain Eliot smartly coached him up while working out kinks in his casting mechanics and he was casting 40 feet of line at the end on the day! We landed dozens of stripers and I landed a prize large striper (42"- 25 lbs.) using a live mackerel on light spinning gear. The Captain Eliot experience is much fun, he is a great guide and superb fishing coach! He provides great equipment - Orvis Helios, his boat a Parker SE 23 foot is a great platform to fish, and he provided lunch - fresh lobster salad sandwiches from his lobster pots -WOW!!! Captain Eliot's passion, sense of humor, knowledge and his respect and reverence for the fish has hooked us both on circle hooks for a lifetime of fishing with Captain Eliot! I decided to drive outside of Eugene and explore this area with a friend a few months back and…read morerecently I went again last weekend. It's a nice drive out to Dorena Lake and this park is really easy to find. It sits right where Rat Creek enters the lake and has a large parking lot. When I went the boat launch was closed but it looks like you can do that here. I saw a few people fishing and the view itself is very pretty. The sparkling water with the trees surrounding it is really nice. Recently when I went there was a lot of broken glass scattered on the beach in all the areas I walked. I had my dogs with me and was a little nervous to hang out there for much longer. I definitely wouldn't want to be barefoot here and if you have kids, be careful. On a hot day it might be nice to come hang out here but if there's this much glass I would probably find somewhere else. There is normally a nice trail you can take around the lake but after the recent snow storm it's closed due to so much debris and fallen trees on the path. When it's all cleared out it will be great for walking and biking. It would be really nice to bring kayaks out here, there weren't any boats on the water when I went recently. There are bathrooms near the parking lot.
