We hired James to do a complete refresh on a property in Stillwater, OK and he did an amazing job. The overhaul included painting the entire house, including walls, ceilings, trim and doors. New kitchen cabinets and countertops. New front door with trim. And a complete remodel of the bathroom - he took the bathroom down to the studs and rebuilt the entire bathroom modernizing it. He was the ultimate professional and followed through on everything he said he would do. He kept us informed throughout the 5 week project, even coming in under the estimated timeline by 1 week. I appreciated his honesty and regular, consistent communication so that we were always informed as we are out of town owners. He did a wonderful job! His craftsmanship and attention to detail resulted in a dramatic reduction of cold air penetration into my home over the winter and resulted in a decrease in my heating bill. Additionally, he customized the door per my specifications to accommodate my enormous Mastiff with an X-Large dog door. He maintained the pristine condition of the door before, during, and after installation. Even during demolition of the previous door, James worked methodically to preserve the interior finish framing and reuse it with the new door. It looks perfect. Finally, his jobsite management was thorough and efficient. Not a single scrap of construction debris was left behind. He was in and out quick and did quality work. He asked for $8000 up front (more than half the cost of the estimate- as stated in his contract). He did tear out the walls and subfloor- and left it like that for a week. He asked for us to buy the insulation- which was included in his estimate. We had agreed on a white tile. I sent him pictures and item number for the tile. I came home and he had installed unapproved grey tile. He stated that lowes did not have the tile that we had agreed on. He never offered to fix the tile or adjust the cost. I purchased a shower surround- I sent him pictures and item number for the surround- both via email and text. He responded to both stating that would work great. He struggled with the install - and then stated that we had purchased a "skin", not a real surround. He had shattered a piece prior to speaking with us, and then proceeded to put up another unapproved shower wall that did not match. When I questioned him about the about of Kaulk and that the walls were peeling up- he stated that I had purchased cheap material. Materials he had approved of before purchased. We have since discovered that the protective plastic sheeting had not been removed from the shower walls- that's why they won't stick- the shower walls had to be taken down and redone. There was a hole in the shower wall that was cut to large for the shower head- so that panel had to be replaced. The bathtub drain was not installed properly. shower head has scratches all over it where he used pliers to tighten it. When we turn on the tub faucet water leaks from the shower head. He did not want to move the door which was originally agreed upon, because he didn't want to repair the floor in the thresh hold. He then put the vanity in and the door would not close. He then asked to add $1000 back to the estimate to fix. He also did not want to put the light fixture in because he didn't like the old wiring. When asked if we needed an electrician he said they would probably just scare us into rewiring the entire house. He then asked if my husband would put in the fixtures to avoid liability.
