We had a specific plan that was a bit "outside the box" from what the typical customer is looking for in design and foliage. Our goal was to use only unique native Wisconsin plants that came from nearby nurseries to reduce our carbon footprint, without any shrubs, bushes or evergreens. Also, wanted species that would thrive without the use of chemical fertilizers or herbicides. The representatives from the first 3 landscaping companies that came to look at the project seemed confused and unsure on what we were trying to accomplish. Then we came upon Eco Harmony! I mentioned to Mike that we love to explore the trails at Schlitz Audubon Nature Center and were going for that type of vibe. He followed up with a plan and design we loved. Aside from coming up with a design that matched our vision, what really impressed us was how Mike went out of his way to meet with us at less than convenient hours. I typically don't get home from work until 8PM. Mike met with us several times in the later evening to finalize plans. His patience and easy going approach were much appreciated as well. At first we were impressed with his knowledge of bushes and trees and that he had been in business for several decades. We hired him to first give our lawn a treatment of "Weed & Feed"as there were a lot of weeds and dandelions left over from the prior owner. (We bought the house in 6 months earlier in the Fall of 2020). One "red flag" that came up during the initial visit was that he had come out two days earlier and walked the yard without telling us. A simple ringing of the doorbell would have been nice. Who goes to someones house and walks around the yard without permission? During the treatment, he had a "mechanical" failure with a machine that ether dropped large amounts of fertilizer in one spot (that killed the grass in large areas) or deposited an extra amount of fertilizer in long stripes all over the lawn. He told me about the accidental "dumps" and he used his blower to try and move the fertilizer into a wider area. A few days later... we could see the damage.. dead grass and the areas of extra green all over our almost an acre lot. It looked like some one took a can of green spray paint and walked all over the yard (Still does in June) I called him and told him what was happening. He was "busy" the next couple of days but would come by to look at it... and remedy the problem. NEVER heard from him again.. NOTHING. ALSO... the dandelions grew like weeds... like they had been fertilized. The other weeds in the lawn.. the same thing... so we had to wonder was it only fertilizer he put down and NO weed killer? We had also discussed planting trees, rebuilding our fire pit area and other landscaping designs. Again, nothing from him. His voice mail is normally full, so contact is haphazard at best. Initial paper work had the wrong address on it.. but he seemed to find us anyway. He got my husbands name wrong and paperwork had us listed as Mr. & Mrs (insert our street name). May have been a good business 10 or 20 years ago... but now old equipment and very poor customer service. It is early June.. and nothing from Roger Maurice.
