Easy to find, I made my way to the chain's newest outlet at Ständeplatz crossing Wilhelmsstraße on a rainy day. Upon entering I was greeted by a white-tiled bathroom-reminiscent floor, a Soundcloud playlist featuring an eclectic mix of acoustic folk, singer-songwriter and "we listened to them before they became famous" kinda artists and a team of three baristas/waiters, presumably local students. Without the typical snobbiness or flakiness you might encounter at various coffee outlets in Berlin, I placed my non-complicated order and enjoyed 400 ml of lactose-free "Ettli organic brew" cappuccino (3,60€) goodness by the window. However, this branch is rather small with 12 "people watching"-worthy seats (bar stools in pastel pink and blue) on the bottom floor and about another 15 on the first floor, which I'd avoid at any costs 'cause it might as well have been a broom closet in its former life. It lacks decoration and warmth and overall 'hipster chic'. In conclusion, come here for the coffee and not the interior.

Certainly, the best you will get in Marburg! The bagel was huge, and really tasty, the one I bought was a cheese and egg bagel but I certainly wanted to try some of the others. Staff were also really very nice and were able to understand me despite my mangled Deutsch. When I move to Marburg in a few months, I will most definitely be visiting here again (probably daily....)

Although, I ordered a caffe latte to go the cafe has an international crowd from Canadians to locals. The latte was very subtle and very good. I would go here again. It sits on top midway of one of the very few hilly streets in Mainz.

Their flat white was smooth and perfectly balanced. The milk was velvety and I wish I hadn't gotten take away and walked away or I would have ordered another. I am so happy to see places like this popping up. I, personally, take insult to when sugar is put in coffee (sorry Deutschlanders), but most coffee in this country needs sugar or something to help it. It is rare that I find places like this that offer such an ideal espresso that it does not need sugar. Take mind, I will NEVER go to a place where I'd need to put sugar in my coffee because that is a surefire indicator that the coffee sucks. But then again, I was a barista in Scandinavia for quite some time years ago so I am a bit of a coffee snob. No sugar needed at Kaffeekommune. The best thing about this place is that it embraces simplicity and the products they sell. They won't serve a subpar product. They also offer efficient and kind customer service. At night from Thursday on throughout the week, this place turns into a craft beer bar. Kaffeekommune- please come to Frankfurt!!!
