Keely your review is, sadly, out of date. The water slides are history! They were great fun though loved them. As I write, the pool area is about to close for a whole 18 months for redevelopment. As little in the way of general maintenance seems to have been done recently, major work is overdue. Many user groups and individuals complained but quite why we should be deprived of a pool for so long has yet to be explained by the council. The architect's plan for the new build went on display for a short time in July and the public had only days in which to comment. Many I have spoken to expressed dismay about the open-plan, mixed gender changing village, lack of privacy when showering, abysmal provision for disabled users and child safety issues. The addition of a Jacuzzi, takes up too much of the building's footprint and adds to our town's carbon one. There are no plans to bring back the slides! The friendly, helpful, well trained poolside staff face an uncertain future and deserve all our support. The rest of Omagh's Leisure Centre is modern, clean, well run and offers all you would expect in the way of public leisure facilities. Membership and prices generally, are reasonable though there should be more generous concessions. read more
