Our family is SO happy we went with Primrose!! Go take a tour, meet the teachers and staff, see for…read moreyourself. We can't say enough great things about Primrose, we are thrilled with our experience and how our son has blossomed since starting there.
Our experience is with the infant rooms. We visited Primrose early in pregnancy and were blown away. After touring a couple other daycares afterward (including a well-known one in Philly with a big name and long waiting list), we canceled the rest of our appointments because we knew nothing else would measure up. The first thing we noticed was the security of Primrose's space, which is very tight, despite being in the middle of the city. While others may have a gate or someone near the door, we immediately noticed the two sets of doors entering the building, security cameras outside and inside, the staffed front desk inside the door (who somehow know all of the children AND parents/caregivers by name!), the sign-in book for guests, and the keypad for child sign-in and out. The tour was great (MUCH more thorough than other places we looked)--Ms. Terry took us through the whole building from the infant room up to the older kids' rooms, showed us the play rooms, common areas, kitchen, etc. and explained the details for each room, curricula, schedules, procedures, safety, you name it. She answered all of our questions and then some. The teachers in all of the classrooms seemed engaged, enthusiastic, and patient. We were impressed, so we put our name on the list to start our son there when he was four months.
After spending that four months at home with us on parental leave, we were sad to detach from him and hand him over to strangers. But Primrose made that first day so much less stressful and emotional than we expected. First off, we had an orientation before we started to ask last-minute questions and become acquainted with procedures, etc. They didn't forget we were coming and greeted us and our son by name as we walked through the door, were supportive and welcoming, and gave us a little mini-orientation that morning. We signed up for the Tadpoles app to receive pictures of our guy throughout the day and daily summary reports. Another reviewer complained about this app, but we haven't had a single issue with it, and it has completely changed our feelings about leaving him for the day--it's awesome! We love getting little snapshots of his activities, and the daily reports are great both for keeping us up to date and for planning.
We can't rave enough about the teachers and staff here. They are thoughtful, careful, sensitive, attentive, caring, creative, kind, thorough, enthusiastic, fun...we could go on and on. We feel loved and cared about, and like part of their family. We have not witnessed any of the turnover issues other reviewers mentioned. Allison runs a very professional, clean, well-run operation at Primrose--any questions, issues, concerns we've had over the past several months have been attended to immediately and with compassion and professionalism. They have set the bar extremely high for child care for our family. We are moving out of town after almost a year here, and Primrose will be one of the things we miss the most!
