Firstly the outlets are divided into separate buildings, each with their own 'speciality'. This review concerns only one of them. We started on the second floor. This is and area divided into subsections for women, children and men. Everything is put on racks and laid out on tables. I can't see they don't have any nice thing, because they do! It's just that you really need to enjoy this type of shopping or enjoy saving (quite a lot of) money. To find something you like you need to go through all the items in the racks, though somehow the staff manages to keep everything sorted by size and type of clothing (sport, business, casual, etc.). The staff is very friendly and mostly keen to help you out finding something or pointing you in the right direction. There are no single occupancy fitting rooms, but rather cordoned off areas for communal fittings. When you found everything you need it's all put into a big clear plastic bag and sealed at the cash register. So if you plan on shopping big and are by public transport, my advise would be to bring a bag you feel comfortable with walking down the streets and one that's easy to carry. Downstairs the shopping experience changes drastically and it starts to look like you're in a normal store. Even with shop-in-shop concepts. Much more to my personal liking. Downstairs there is also a coffee bar that serves light meals and snacks too. The place is easily reached by S-Bahn (Riem) and a short walk or a very short bus ride. If you don't mind wading through racks and racks and racks to see if there's anything to your liking, this could be something for you! If you like (or need) be watch your spending or simply like to get the most out of your Euro, this could also be the place for you! She brought a few options, helped me in and out of them and we settled on two final options - both reasonably priced (do not expect to spend less than 150 euro on anything quality). I chose the one I wanted and was rung up and out the door. Both sales women I spoke with spoke excellent English and didn't make me feel bad about my very poor German speaking skills. Aforementioned business-card holder came from Bellroy, a lovely specialist wallet-maker based in Australia, and while they ship for free to the US, I knew I'd be without this key part of my wardrobe for a few weeks. While browsing Bellroy's site, I figured let me see if München has any stores which stock their wallets, and much to my surprise, both Rocket and Lodenfrey were listed as retailers. After getting politely dismissed at Lodenfrey, I decided to give Rocket a call to see if they had stock in the wallet I was looking for, and spoke to a delightful lady who not only confirmed that she had my business-card holder in stock but also gave me walking directions to the store. As I walked through the door, the lady behind the counter looks at me and says - "Ah ha, you must be the man who called, welcome!" She walks me over to the Bellroy display case, and also comments on what is unmistakably a bottle of alcohol in my bag from a prior shop (Tara), and when I tell her it is Slyrs she laughs and points above the counter to a bottle, saying that she loves it too. Rocket is truly a lovely little shop full of eclectic, fashionable, yet very functional items. More remarkable is the warm welcome I got and the very kind customer engagement, especially as it was fairly obvious I was a tourist who needed one thing and who would be very unlikely to return. If you're in München, and looking for very cool clothing, accessories, or a very well-made wallet, you'd be very well-served skipping Lodenfrey for this cute little shop where people look forward to helping you out.
