Oliver's was the only place I used to go, and Dan and the lady at the desk were the nicest people, and the price was always more than fair. After this last experience with Joe Jr., I will never go there again as long as I live. I could write a novel about how I was treated, and the specific things Joe said to me, but I will just say I'm a senior citizen, and he was VERY condescending towards me on the phone more than once. He also made several claims about needed repairs which were false, and I know this because I brought it to another mechanic 2 weeks later and he confirmed it. I do not appreciate someone insulting my vehicle, my intelligence, and being called "buddy" repeatedly while talking down to me. Rude, shady, and beyond unprofessional. read more

I love these guys but when I called recently to ask about the price of changing my summer tires for my snow, I was quoted $25 per tire. I called all around and that was the cheapest I could get. I'm a retired widow, but still teach two days a week to make ends meet. After the tire change, the price jumped to $35 per tire. The owner said I must have misunderstood, but I didn't, and my word is my bond. Folks don't remember that kind of old school, when a verbal contract meant something. I wasn't going to write a review but after I heard the secretary lady wasn't working there anymore because she walked out after being treated horrifically by the owner during business hours when the shop was very busy, I decided to go ahead even though its been a minute since i had work done. I feel others should be aware of how employees are treated and to question who does the work on their vehicles. I'm not upset about the work done but the way the owner was speaking about his staff to customers, speaking to his staff in front of customers and the other employees is horrid. As someone who's been in very professional and some not so professional work settings, I'd expect an owner of a business to speak to and about their staff respectfully. I have heard the owner say his employees are stupid, not good at their jobs, how some have been off of work to be drinking vs working, how the people who work for him are always messing up, I have seen the secretary get bombarded by the guys who work there not even making sure she had all the information, speaking at her not to her while she's been helping customers or on the phone or had another one of the guys talking to her or she's dealing with a delivery. He has had questionable staff working there from time to time, as well as one guy who smells like he crawled out of dumpster filled with rotting food and dog shit. Seeing an owner of a business treat his staff the way he does to their face and behind their back is disgusting. On top of that, I have heard him myself and from others I have spoken to, him talk to customers calling for help on the phone or stopped in in a condescending way like they're idiots. The work Dan and Kaden and others have done on my vehicles has been amazing but I can't stand the way he treats those that work for him and customers. I refuse to go there again when the owner is there but will continue to go there because I like the work his staff does and figure if I continue to go there, at least I know I'll get quality work done. Dan and the others have always been super friendly, knowledgeable and done quality work (aside from the stinky guy) but screw the owner and his high and mighty attitude. Those employees deserve one hell of a holiday bonus and raise for putting up with being treated the way they do. I'd never allow someone to speak to me that way or even have to hear about it from customers or other employees. The owner is lucky he has staff that must love their jobs and working at a small location with no lunch breaks allowed or vacation because he'll tell everyone how you took time off to drink like it's a bad thing to take vacation time and he's not happy with them for doing so. I really hate that I have to write this bad review because I like them personally and I'm not mad at them I'm frustrated that my repair was so astronomically high. I had an alternator done on a old Honda CRV , probably the cheapest vehicle you can work on and easiest and quickest. Over $600!? No.. not only could I not even find an alternator online for over a hundred max, but the labor is minimal. I was charged half of this for a wheel bearing that included much more labor and work. Not happy. I'm too broke for this as it is. I have an old Honda for cripes sake. read more

Oliver's has had a good reputation over the years and I am in the process of getting a 2003 Honda Civic back into good condition. The prices were fair and reasonable and I found it easy to get an appointment and a good turn-around on brakes and an overall inspection. I'm looking forward to going back to them in the future. They're easy to find right off of the main street in Superior. There's a lounge you can wait in if you wanted to, and it's located within a 3-4 block walking distance of good local restaurants and Superior attractions, antique shops, etc. if you want to entertain yourself instead. They've been friendly and professional and a good example of Superior commerce. Worth looking into if you need something done. read more

Driving from Minnesota to Indiana, we started hearing a squeeling sound. We stopped at Oliver's (one of the few places open on Saturday) to figure out what was going on. They were able to take the car on a test drive and hoisted it up to look. Couldn't find anything wrong, but it was nice getting the green light to head home. We tried paying them for their service, but they refused to take any money from us. read more

Ive gone here to get some work done on my car a few times and I always recommend it! When I needed to drop my car off, the nice woman at the desk offered to drive me home so I didn't have to take the bus! I had a flat tire crisis and came in right at close and they helped me no problem. Fair prices too. As a lady who knows little about cars, I always get a second opinion from my dad and he agrees with them each time. Super Nice folks. Only reason it's not 5 stars is because it can take some time to get your car back in my experience, though I tend to bring my vehicle in when everyone else does around spring and late fall. read more

Oliver's has had a great reputation through the years, but that is slowly fading as the younger Joe brings dishonesty and fraud to the long time Superior business. On August 6, we brought in our van. I was told in two hours we'd hear from them. Two days later we'd heard nothing and called. The van hadn't been looked at, so the mechanic looked and said his guess was it needed a new TIPM. Codie (sp?) later gave us a quote of $1200 after they'd diagnosed it. She said rarely, the TIPM will need to be "reprogrammed by a dealer" after installation, but that it wasn't likely. She was looking for a used one, but said it would be tough to find. We agreed to go with new and pay the full $1200. By this time, it was Monday the 10th. All of this time and all of the days that followed we were never once contacted by Oliver's. We'd wait, and eventually call after days passed. Codie, who was snotty and made me feel like calling to check on progress was a mortal sin, finally told my husband when he called on Saturday the 15th that the NEW (not used) part we'd given the go ahead to order had arrived, and the van would be done Monday. The van was not done Monday. Or Tuesday. Finally, Codie did her job and called on Wednesday afternoon to say the van was finished. She then said it would be $1460. What? She said they'd had to reprogram the new TIPM... which she'd told me in the beginning was very unlikely and if it were to be the case, would have to be done by a dealer. And I was never contacted to approve it or told it was one of the rare cases in which it was necessary. My husband questioned all of this. He was told he was wrong and they were right. They took no responsibility. They had our van for two weeks, didn't keep their word, and the cherry on top? Is that they put in a USED, refurbished TIPM. But, even though it is easily verifiable, stuck with the lie it was new until they finally blamed the "dealership" they ordered it from. Joe Oliver refused to be honest with my very patient husband, stole our hard earned and honest money, and made himself look like a monster. We will NEVER go back, and we recommend that you don't either. I would give no stars if that were an option. There are honest, reputable mechanics in Superior- go to those shops instead. read more

Oliver's over charged me for tires, then a day later my tire went flying off while I was driving. Went back, they said it wasn't their fault so they charged me for a new tire which took over a week for them to order. they also said they couldn't put the tire on unless they fixed everything on the brakes. So they did. 2 days later I'm driving and smell a burning rubber smell, pull over and notice my back driver's side brake is locked up and making strange noises. so I call Oliver's and speak with the owner and he gives me the run around saying it's not their fault, then hangs up on me. 0/10 customers service. Also, my family has brought all their vehicles to them for years and have always recommended them to friends and family. Until now. They are terrible to work with and overcharge you read more

I took my van in to get fixed and got really good service. I dropped it off at 9:30 and they had it fixed by 1:30. My friend referred me to Olivers and I'll be coming back in the future. They were professional and very reasonable on the pricing. Thank you. read more
