I took only 3 single doses and was completely wired . I called the clinic who advised me that Dr. V. said I should quit taking them but did not offer a substitute so I returned to my GP who set me up with a cocktail of drugs that barely touch the pain. Back to Shields for a follow up. Dr. Loewen came in, gave me a cortisone shot based on MRI findings and sent me home 5 minutes later. No improvement. Two weeks later went back and Dr. Loewen gave another shot directly into the pain centre. No improvement. Back 3 weeks later. Dr. L. Was quite gruff and asked me what I thought he should do. Decided to give me 3 more shots randomly down my hip. Again no improvement. Next was a nerve block, by referral to Indsight Pain Management. Made it worse. Next was the rupture of a synovial cyst at the base of my spine. Temporary small relief. Now heading back for another shot into the cushion along the spine. These procedures done by Insight and horribly painful. Every time I speak to Dr. Loewen he becomes more off hand. "Well by the time anyone reaches 75 they're going to have problems with their spine". As someone else wrote, the front desk people are friendly and every appointment they ask you to fill out pages of information--which the doctors don't appear to read. I'm keeping my appointment, but this may be the last, regardless whether there is success or not.

There's about 4 stalls in front of their building for patient parking. Inside there's a lot of chairs in the waiting room and a TV to keep people entertained. The front desk staff are always very nice when answering the phone and in person. There's a place to take off your shoes and put feet covers over top if you like. They are not sticklers to make you take off your shoes unless they are wet and dirty. The patient rooms are spacious and clean making me feel very comfortable. Dr. Chan is always on time for our appointments and she answers my questions and provides me with guidance and medication information. There's always a large patient washroom in the back with a cute bear toilet paper holder. I wouldn't mind coming to this new location again as there's more seating, and it's nice and bright!

I really love Integrated Therapies. I was a bit apprehensive at first because looking on the…read morewebsite they seemed to offer lots of holistic treatments which I wasn't familiar with. I was having a lot of all over pain and had been referred for lymphatic drainage which my regular massage therapist didn't do (and which sounded very strange and terrifying, I was imagining a mad scientist lab and tubes to drain out lymphatic fluid, eek! It's actually just a gentle massage, no literal draining involved.) I ended up booking with Anne as she does the lymphatic drainage as well as several other therapies. The clinic is located in a cute little house on the corner of 101 St and 80th Avenue. As soon as I walked in I was struck by the utter peace and tranquility of the place. It was so quiet compared to the chaos outside and I could happily have dozed off just sitting on the sofa in the waiting area. My massage therapist, Anne, is just lovely. I was half expecting someone very spiritual, wearing flowing robes and waving incence (because I'm ridiculous like that) but she is a very charming and practical German lady with additional qualifications in physiotherapy. One of the first things she said to me was "sit up straight, you'll feel better if you're not slouching all the time." It's true, I do!! Before we started our treatment she did an assessment of my body and biomechanics (I've always experienced this as more of a physio thing) and based on that she decided that rather than do lymphatic drainage we should change our focus and try Bowen therapy instead. This involves sort of tweaking/moving all the muscles in the body. It's very non-invasive and didn't hurt at all and I walked out feeling much better! I really like that Anne has a lot of experience with different types of therapy and she can customize and incorporate different techniques into my treatments. She also gave me a thorough treatment plan with different recommendations for exercises, videos, a stability cushion for my work chair, and orthotics. So far everything has worked and Anne is now my regular massage therapist. I can't recommend Integrated Therapies enough!

Beth is a really understanding and knowledgeable practitioner. After our first chat I totally felt she understood what I was looking for and could help me get results. The treatment rooms have very calming decor and are perfect temperature, the complete spa atmosphere, but every so often you can hear someone slamming down weights in the gym next door. This kind of hampers the whole calm zen feeling. The last time I went I noticed someone in a wheelchair seemed to have issues navigating because the corridors are narrow around the reception area and there's not really seating for someone who's a little less mobile at the entrance of the clinic. These are the only reasons I haven't given City Centre Wellness five stars. I will continue to visit this clinic because the service is fantastic, they do online booking (which I love) and it's a convenient location for anyone who works downtown. I've been going to city center wellness for about a year now and I am throughly satisfied with the service I receive there. First off they have a super convenient online booking system which I love. They will also send you reminders on the day of your appointment via email, and follow-up reminders when it is time for your next appointment to be booked which is super handy. They also have 3rd party billing which is exrtremly handy for those whose benefits cover massage therapy. They have different therapists who specialize in different areas of massage so they cater to pretty much every need. I personally see Meghan, who is great. She will tell me what parts of my body are tight and what I need to work on and give me tips of things I can do at home to loosen those muscles up. She really knows her stuff. There have also been a few times I have called the studio the day of - you know how it is when you wake up with something wrong and you could use the massage that day - and Meghan has always done her best to fit me in when those problem days occur. Overall great experiences with the city center wellness clinic and I will continue to go back.
