Yes, that means you sometimes have to wait a bit (it's never empty) but why be in a hurry when there's so many delicious goodies to browse. There's some fantastic cheeses and chutnies and jams and crackers but there's also some amazing scotch eggs, cheese and bacon bombs and quiches etc. This is one of my favourite cheese shops in the whole country so if you're in Sidmouth you simply must try it!

You get loads of filling, can mix and match and some of their specials are just amazing - tandoori chicken with mint sauce was my favourite but I haven't caught it recently. The cheese on offer is pretty wide ranging and there's also other unique items like eggs (I think they do geese eggs when they're in season), offcuts of smoked salmon and pies. Often people are queuing out of the door but don't let that put you off, it moves pretty quickly and it's only a small shop so there's not usually many people in there.

Pickles, dried chillies, spices, herbs, sauces, dressings, vinegars, jams, jellies. Then as you turn around you notice the fresh salads under the counter too. We had some amazing food in the café and then purchased some lovely wine and cheese and beautiful homemade apricot chutney on the way out. The couple that own the business are the friendliest and kindest people and had a wonderful scene of humor and we chatted for ages I left feeling like I have known them forever. She could only sit in the dog friendly area that only had bar stools. We quickly explained that it is unlawful under Equality legislation to treat someone with disabilities less favourably because of their disability, or because they have a Guide or assistance Dog with them. But sadly, it quickly became obvious that my wife was not going to be treated with the respect and dignity she deserves, and the atmosphere was no longer conducive to enjoying a meal, so we left. He has since spoken with the Guide Dogs for the Blind Engagement Officer, and been informed of what he should have done, but no apology to my wife was ever forthcoming, which would have cost him nothing! I just want my wife to be treated like a human being! Each (illegal) "you can't sit here, sit over there" is a crushing, confidence shattering rejection.
