We were met in public school with multiple obstacles including unbelievably that public school teachers were not required any special training for learning disabilities. The pain we all went through included student and parent shaming amd other atrocities. Thankfully another parent recommended MARBURN ACADEMY. Right away they took our son to much better learning and social environment. We saw our son blossem and gain self confidence. The teachers are incredible. Any teacher that maintain the attention spans of 10 youngsters simultaneously has my vote of confidence. A great investment when the kids just think they're playing when they're actually learning heaps. If you cannot get in for school, consider the summer school they have at TUMC. BUT take my advice and register early as this is THE hip and happening place for the pre-schoolers in Grandview and Arlington.

Indianola is an alternative school that allows kids to be kids - you start each day on the "carpet" as a group and then go to work stations around the classroom depending on what you want to pursue. Age groups are mixed, diversity is omnipresent and creativity ensues! I was mapping constellations in 3rd grade and did a project on Kwanzaa in 4th... not your run-of-the-mill elementary school experience. This is, in fact, the Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities Early Childhood Education Center. The school serves students with and without disabilities which is awesome! Front desk staff are very friendly and make check in easy. You must check in if you are a parent or a visitor. The school is pretty updated and it well kept. The restrooms were nice and clean. They are also very spacious -- this is likely due to the fact that this is a Special Needs school and kids with gross motor difficulties need space to do their business! The halls are also very spacious and well decorated. There are so many resources here. They serve 700 students aged 6 weeks to 6 years. There are many services including OT, PT and other specialists. They have multiple partnerships including the YMCA for childcare and OSU dentistry! Head Start too! It's very comprehensive. They have a "Wonder Lab" that helps kids regulate their emotions. This is awesome for kids emotional needs. It has weighted pillows, fiber optic lights and a water bed! This place really has it together!
