We had never ate here before and decided to stop since we were in the area. Very poor selection of food, chicken strips are dry and hard, fried chicken was til I put it nicely edible and the baked chicken had a rubbery feel and a taste I cannot even describe. The green beans were so over salted that you could feel the sodium build up on the first bite, how can you mess up okra but it was. The soups were palatable at best. Thankful for the salad bar as that is what we ended up filling up on, the desserts are mediocre. Honestly if you want good food, find somewhere else. Oh lawd this buffet y'all! We were driving back from some field work in a neighboring city and passed right by Old Time. There was a conversation of, should we/shouldn't we. How can we eat so much then drive back to Atlanta, will it be worth it, buffets are weird, etc. Obviously we decided to give it a try. We were pretty stoked to find their lunch price was just $9 pp or $11 with a drink. So you don't have that all you can eat buffet pressure "to get your money's worth". Don't get me wrong I still got 2 full plates and a dessert plate, but who's counting! The food was damn good. Super Southen, all the sides, all the gravies, all the fried, all the carbs. It's a buffet, it's delicious. Everything you want from country fried steak, to fried chicken, greens, is hits. Oh! and the peach cobbler! Definitely worth it if you're in the area. I agree with most of the posts that the food is tasty (except the cooked, sliced carrots taste odd), but PLEASE turn up the temperature in your restaurant! Today I attended a Medicare meeting, which lasted two hours. The outside temperature was 70 degrees. The inside temperature in the meeting room must have been 60 degrees, although the waitress told me that it was set at 73. She agreed to turn up the room's temperature, which was not done. I couldn't feel my numbed fingers. I thought I was having a stroke. I realize that the employees are actively working, and probably tend to get hot, but your customers should not need jackets and gloves while dining. read more

I will start with the good first. The food here is phenomenal! Good ole soul, southern, comfort food at its best! They have salads, seafood, bbq, fried and baked chicken. They also have a plethora of vegetables and desserts to choose from. I have absolutely no complaints regarding the taste of the food. On the other hand, however, the atmosphere and service leaves a lot to be desired. Since this was our first time at this restaurant, we didn't know the flow of the place. There were two cashiers who were conversing with each other, and didn't notice that we walked in. Therefore, we were not greeted when we entered. We were acknowledged by one of the cashiers, paid for the food, and found a place to sit. This restaurant is a converted Golden Corral. It has an old rugged look, with the fresh tomatoes at the door, and an office door that was awkwardly in the dining area. How do I describe our waitress? Well, she was friendly, but could use a little more help with her customer service skills. She sporadically checked on us, and when she did, her service was awkward. The cooks, although they were on the job, they would stand around and people watch. It made me uncomfortable to go to the bar, knowing that the cooks were watching me(that explains the poor quality of pictures I took:). The restaurant could also use a fly/gnat zapper. Came to Douglas for a deposition and was told this was the best place in town for lunch. I nervously giggled. I mean, it was fine. The food was hot and decent. However the women's restroom was horrendous! I'm temporarily on crutches and I couldn't bring myself to use the handicapped stall because it was gross. When I went into a middle stall there was grease all over the walls. Also disappointing was the dessert bar. So many choices but everything I had was dry and tasted of straight sugar. Also of note, we were basically stared at the whole time. Douglas is a small town but I guess we were a little much for the folks at the Country Buffett. The hot food kept it from being completely disappointing but I'll pass on this place next time. read more

You know you are in trouble if a local tells you that this is the "best" option in town for a sit down lunch. Either they don't get out much or there isn't anything else other than the fast food chains, which there are plenty of. Having our expectation tamed, the place didn't disappoint nor surprise. It was a solid southern style buffet with plenty of options and plenty of people, ensuring a constant supply of cooked food. They had most southern staples, and bbq items as well. The most notable item was the cheese biscuits, which were excellent. My wife and I were pleasantly surprised about them. Their dessert selection was poor and mostly sugary pudding stuff, only one coconut cake, which was mostly whipped cream anyways. The place was not clean in general; the waitresses barely kept up with the flow of people coming and going. We waited awhile to get her attention for a refill. I decided to go to the Douglas restaurant on 21 May 2022 to have a meal with my family. We got our table and sat down, i went to make my plate and when I came back one of the employees was sitting in my seat talking to my family. At one point he patted my nephew on the head and was told to stop. He even said some threatening and harassing things. At the time I decided to handle the situation calmly so we finished our meal and reported him to the manager. He asked if we knew the man and I said no, that shouldn't matter because his behavior is unprofessional either way. After I spoke to the manager I over-heard some of the employees saying "if it was a problem then I should have done something right then". I guess I was supposed to get loud and flip over some of the tables and chairs. We left, but will never eat at this establishment again. DO NOT EAT HERE! I plan to file a complaint. Came here while visiting my mom and she recommended we go as it is one of her favorites. The place has great southern food and we will be back next time. So I moved here from missouri and I asked around for good places to eat and someone told me this place is the best. In my personal opinion bland doesn't describe the food. There is no seasoning on almost anything. The grilled items were over cooked. It bad when you bring your pregnant girlfriend here and the only thing she find pleasing is the canned peaches they serve. This is my first review ever. In all fairness I don't have a sophisticated southern palate but I would consider myself a "foodie" having waited and cooked in restaurants myself. The food was undeniably fantastic! Maybe not the healthiest fare but so much variety and full of flavor. Fried chicken, steak, pulled pork, turnip greens, mac 'n cheese, creamed corn, okra, grits, crawfish with a side of biscuits and cornbread. Salivating yet?
