They did some blood work which showed he had an infection and some inflammation. He was given an antibiotic and an anti-inflammatory and sent home on Saturday. He got better for a day, then started regressing. The next Friday I took him in again. Dr. Sheehan called that night saying he was in pretty critical shape and they would do more testing and x-rays. Saturday morning she called and I was not expecting the news to be good. However, he had survived the night and she had an idea of what was going on. She offered me the option to take him to Metropolitan Vets if I wanted, but I was fine with him being at LaGrange Animal Hospital. He ended up staying there until Wednesday getting fluids, hand feedings and the care he needed to get better. I got a call each day to keep me updated on his progress. It's been 10 days now and he is back to being his same old entertaining and irritating self. Was it cheap? No. Was it as expensive as any of the nearby emergency hospitals would have been? No where near it.

The visit was thorough and we received a follow up call on Luna's bloodwork to confirm she was on the correct medication for her seizures. Their reply was to text message me a bill that was ridiculously high, more than what their website showed it would cost for my size dog and the charge for a plain bath was what they used to charge me for a complete grooming. A caretaker came to my car and helped me with my fur-baby. They allowed me as much time as I needed to say my final goodbyes. They are very caring and compassionate, allowing my baby to be cremated in her dog bed, with her favorite blankie. She was returned to me in 24 hours, in a very nice, carved wooden box. Lap of Love was really kind on the phone, explained everything to me and helped me find a doctor to help my best buddy, Shy Guy. She was able to come out the very next morning. He made friends with Dr. Hannah right away. She was so very sweet and kind to us and Shy Guy, everything proceeding at our pace, and letting us have all the time we needed. She helped me make some clay footprints and clip some fur to save. She helped us help our other cats adjust by seeing him so they knew he was gone. And she tucked him up in the sweetest most comfortable little basket to take him to the crematory. He truly died with dignity and love, the way he deserved.
