Middleton Computers are great local technicians in the Middleton area of Greater Manchester. Obviously no one wants their computer to break down especially when it is no longer under warranty but it is nice to know Middleton Computers offer a quick solution when something does go wrong. They were recently able to fix my laptop the same day which I had diagnosed myself as a hard drive failure after performing some tests - they were able to replace the hard-drive the same day, picking up just before close so that was really useful to me. The staff here are really knowledgeable and do have a good stock of parts in too to help get a repair done fast, I did have problems in the past regarding some parts not being available but this was because it was a new unit and you can't expect them to have specialist parts in for new, complex units which are expensive anyway so considering that the lead time and fixing the unit is still pretty good. They also offered to back-up the data on my hard drive which was a really good price too, I decided against it as I was saving all my data onto my USB stick anyway as it was my spare laptop I had an issue with (Coincidentally my main unit was being sent to HP in the Czech Republic for repair which makes no sense at all - I only had to do it due to the manufacturers warranty, or I would have used these guys too!) - I mean come on surely it doesn't make sense for HP to force me to send my laptop 1000 miles away for repair? It is a real shame however they don't open on weekends and the store doesn't have wheelchair access but still, this is one of the best technicians I've dealt with even across the country, and although I sadly don't get the chance to give many five-star reviews I feel Andy and the team at Middleton Computers really are fantastic and unlike many rivals they genuinely care about the customer and the product, rather than trying to lie to vulnerable customers and squeeze as much money out of them as possible (Trust me, I've dealt with more than my fair share of them!) The team here are so good, I'd even say it's worth travelling to pay them a visit across the Greater Manchester (and wider area), and I've even considered paying these guys in the past rather than sending my unit back to HP as their service is just so much better, quicker and more environmentally friendly than the manufacturer's warranty service.

It reminded me of my days back in Uni and more so because I had to go back to the university area to get all these things for cheap. I had to print 100 copies of color handouts with two hand outs in each page. My friend from University suggested me to go to Compudos right next to pub zoo and near MMU students union. Thank god it is March and the students don't have to get their ultra thick dissertations printed, because this is when printing places become busier than Obama (No kidding). I had a pretty smooth entry into the shop because there was no queue of any kind and the shop owner was very friendly and welcoming. I could not find my pen drive so he let me use his computer to open my email and find the document (bless him). He then printed out the copies for me and also help me cut the papers (I had two handouts in one sheet). That was such a big help because I was dreading to do that by myself. He also guided me as to where I could find a massive cardboard and paint for cheap. The printing cost me only 23 pounds (100 copies of color print). Verdict: Good service and reasonable pricing! I am definitely going back whenever I have any printing work!

My friends have used Compudos to repair their computers in the past and report them to be quick and reasonably priced - but then any price is reasonable when it comes to recovering your un-backed up research project. My contact with the business came when I needed to get my dissertation bound on the day it was due to be handed in. The queues at the highly recommended U-Print (located on The University of Manchester's north campus) were massive and I was verging on full-blown panic attack by the time I reached Compudos. Within five minutes they had spiral bound both copies of my dissertation at a charge of only £7 (metal binding is available for £8.50 a copy and hardback for £15, with a £5 surcharge for a one hour rush service.) I handed it in with half an hour to spare. And that's how Compudos saved my degree, true story.

The store staff seemed rather friendly, albeit inside the store was quite small, he seemed to work with some of his family, wife and younger children besides him as it appeared the children had just returned home from school, or something of that nature when I called in. NJ Mobiles offered me a rather generous quote on my old phone, which I accepted as it was considerably better than what the likes of CeX and Game were offering me, and the amount was perfect for me as it matched the amount that I would have to pay Tesco Mobile to terminate my contract early, by paying off the usage of my phone, ahead of getting the Iphone 7 Plus with O2, after O2 offered me a much better deal than Tesco. The selection of phones here is average, but that is the trade in a way, reliant on what people bring in and of course, unlike the likes of CeX, Game and Cash Converters, it isn't a large chain which can rely on the big company to help in terms of stocking things. Overall, good staff and generous offers to trade-in old phones earn this place a solid three-star rating, selection of phones to buy and other slight issues such as the overall size of the store, do slightly let this place down.
