It's a very nice wine shop in Middlebury. They have a decent selection of wine, beer and spirits…read more Bob the owner is very friendly and helpful. It's not a large box store with a gazillion selections mind you but you will like it just the same. Sometimes it's better to shop local and shop small.

This liquor store is relatively new to Middlebury, only a couple years old, but in that short time,…read moreit's clear that it's the best one in town. It's located in the Middlebury hamlet plaza next to Middlebury Pizza. The place is a clean, well-organized, and relatively spacious place compared to other liquor stores. The selection here is strong and they have a lot of stuff you'd be hard pressed to find anywhere else. Prices are fair here and in line with what you'd find elsewhere, though a lot of the stuff is uncommon and you probably won't find it elsewhere. Bob is the owner and he's knowledgeable and helpful. He's got such a strong knowledge of wines, it's really impressive, but I'm more of a beer guy, and he's certainly no slouch there. Bob has even special ordered stuff for me, which is really nice, as he goes that extra step to ensure quality service. They do beer/wine tastings on Friday night from 5-8pm, so this gives you a chance to try something new. The constant influx of new drinks is also a pleasure, as there's always something new coming in that I want to try. I've had plenty of good beer from here, many I had never heard of but tried on Bob's recommendation and enjoyed. With the revising of the liquor laws in 2012, this place is now open on Sunday from 12-4pm, however more than just the convenience of Sunday sales is the ability for food to be sold. This is everything from limes to make Coronas taste less awful (it's not a good beer at all!) to more importantly, artisan cheeses to pair with the wide variety of wines he has. For the casual or the aficionado, MFWS has it all. You can even sign up to the mailing list so you can see what's on deck for tastings, which is very convenient. Keep up the great work, Bob!

Happy to support this new but growing Super Store! This store, along with the Waterbury location,…read moreare by far one of my favorite places to shop for beer, wine or any drink of choice. Sure, they have a HUGE selection of wines, beers (cold), and pretty much anything your heart desires. But what continues to set them apart is the awesome folks that own and operate the place. Everyone is knowledgeable, helpful, and goes above and beyond to help you get whatever you need. As a local small business owner I too appreciate the hard work, pride and great service this family-owned business provides. Like other liquor stores, they host wine/liquor tastings, so make sure you follow them online to read about the new events. I especially love how they support local varieties, be sure to ask about their local liquors and beers. If they don't have your favorite beer, ask, they'll do their best to get it! For example, this is the same business that helped my (Texan) friend get his favorite beer while temporarily working in the state. After expressing interest in his favorite beverage (Shiner Brock) they made sure to get him a few cases and started stacking them. He drives 40 minutes from Stratford, CT to get his favorite home state brew. This is the type of service that helps separate this business from others. The store parking is plentiful, location is easy to access, the place is well lit, clean, and the different types of liquor are easily identified. There's a huge section for wines, sorted by countries of origin, styles, etc. (I'm not a wine snob so I just ask them for help as I get educated on the different types), the liquor is separated by types - bourbons, whiskeys, rums, etc., and the beer is near the back, next to the huge walk-in fridges. If you stop by, let them know Angel from WoodyThings sent you =)

Really good liquor store - the people who work there are super helpful. I'm by no means a beer snob…read more- far from it, actually...but I'm finally learning that there is more to the world of beer than the god awful cheap fizzy piss type brews my ex's friends would guzzle at their vomit rager parties, and that *gasp* I'm learning to like it. They have a really good selection of beer (and cider, which is more of my thing). Every time I go in there I find something new to try. I wish they'd carry Brooklyn Brewery 6 packs (I saw 12's, and they do sell bottles individually in the create your own 6 packs) BUT if I get a hankering craving for Brooklyn Summer, Stop and Shop next door has it. (Also of note, their beer selection is probably the best I've seen for Stop and Shop - perhaps they've stepped it up because of this place? Who knows) The wine selection is also pretty decent - although as long as you carry Naked Grape moscato, I'm a happy camper (Which they do, obviously.) Overall, they don't seem to be any cheaper or more expensive than the other places around here either. They're close to my apartment (and I seem to be at the grocery store an awful lot) so they're my liquor store of choice.

I found some hard to find Italian liqueurs on a shelf, with a price a few dollars less than the 'discount' liquor store in my neighborhood. I don't know much about beer, but they seemed to have a lot of different brands. Overall, the prices are average - a dollar or two more or less than other liquor outlets. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The store is clean, without a lot of stock piled on the floor or in aisles. While not really worth it for me to drive here when I need a bottle of something, it's great if I'm in the area and need to restock my cabinet. I will be back!

I had never visited here before, but as I searched for my selection, I discovered their wide range of wines, with many hard-to-find bottles in stock. They also have a great selection of hard liquors, with many not found in other stores in the area. I managed to find a few more bottles to add to my purchase as I explored, and the nice lady at the register was friendly and helpful when I asked about a brand I didn't see (she knew exactly where it was - right down to the number of spaces from the end of the shelf!) The best is they open at 9am, which means I can stop by on my way home from the gym if I need something, instead of planning a separate trip out when the other stores open at 10am. Definitely a merchant I will visit again!

Liquor stores are a dime-a-dozen in this area. However, this little place on Main St. in Oakville…read morestands out particularly for one reason. Their prices are the cheapest in the area. Their selection is good, staff is good, and I've got no complaints there. But the thing that keeps me coming back is how low their prices are. I'm a beer guy and for example a 6-pack of Sam Adams here is about $2 cheaper than any other liquor store in the area. Even less popular stuff like Dogfish Head and Allagash White are much cheaper here than any other package store around, with Allagash White being about $4-5 cheaper than any other store which is amazing! Their liquors and wines seem priced about the same, and they have a strong selection of these as well. I like how they have a good amount of quality craft beer in their coolers, though they don't have higher-priced individual singles like some other stores do. Regardless, you can get lots of great beer here for cheaper than anywhere else. A couple bucks saved here and there definitely adds up, so coming here is a smart bet. These guys are also open as long as the state will allow, making them very flexible for when you want to get down, as they're open 8am-9pm Mon-Sat. and 10am-5pm on Sunday.

They don't have either of those things, so if that's what you require, go elsewhere. What they DO have is an amazingly solid and consistent offering of the brands I love, at possibly the cheapest prices in the area. (I can't really verify the latter, because I never go anywhere else...but the few times I've had to, I was saddened at the competitions price tags.) What they ALSO have is a staff of some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. I'm a pretty simple drinker with simple/top shelf tastes...so I don't often need help. But when I do, they are eager to get me what I need and have never let me down. And when I DO want to try something they might not regularly stock, they're always more than happy to order for me. I love my liquor, and I love me some Wine Rack!
