I stayed here during the end of December and early January to attend my mother's funeral. Tim and his mother were warm and gracious hosts and when I came down with a cold brought me herbal teas and offered to pick up supplies and cold medication at the store- way above & beyond hospitality services I could have found elsewhere! My room was warmly decorated in Lodge style furnishings and clean, plush bedding. There was even a cute Moose rug next to my bed! My room was very clean and cleaning staff were friendly and helpful and brought me towels, kleenex, and extra coffee supplies with a smile. The place is very peaceful and I so enjoyed the tranquil pond views and watching and feeding the ducks and geese. I will recommend this place to everyone I know who travels to this area of Michigan. The LA Cafe restaurant is right next door with great food, baked goods and expresso coffee drinks. Convenient! I saw the previous bad reviews from a few individuals and can only imagine that they are not happy in many areas of their life. This place, the owners, Tim and his Mom, and their excellent staff are peaceful loving service oriented gems in the world of hospitality! All American Good old fashioned service at it's best! If I could give it negative stars I would. Was awakened at 1:45 am to ambulance, fire trucks and police because the front desk person overdosed and needed narcan! Stay away!!!!! Horrific experience! No! No!No! I would rather sleep in my car!!!! read more

Unfortunately, we give this place 0/5. Our experience was beyond bizarre. I made our reservation, on their website, weeks in advance from our check in date. We would have 4 guests. Since their website indicated a large room available to accommodate us comfortably, I reserved the $400.00 a night, lakefront view. I called a few days prior to the check in date to confirm. Was assured we were all set. Check in time is 3pm. We would have 4 guests. My son drove in from Chicago, to meet up with us, since we were going to Pine Knob, that evening. We arrived at 4pm and were told the room wasn't ready. "Would be about 20 minutes." We waited and waited. Finally, after a good hour, I went to the room and there were 2 women cleaning. Not even close to done. The room had such a strong cigarette smoke odor. It was beyond bad. It reeked of stale smoke. Note: They have notices in the office, and on their website, indicating, No Smoking, of any substance, on the premises." The room's carpeting was filthy and there were cigarette burns in the rug. It was disgusting. Well, we, uniformly, agreed that we could NOT stay in there another minute. The smoke odor was giving us, all, a massive headache. We had to request a full refund. The front desk had to contact the owner. We did get our refund. However, the time wasted there, put a negative spin on the start of our family get together. We, now, had to try and find a different place to spend the night, after the concert. An experience we must work on erasing from our memory banks. Their website and reviews are incorrect. They need major changes to live up to their website description. I do NOT recommend staying here, unless you visually, in person, check out this establishment in advance!! read more

My daughter and grandson and I stayed at the old Mill Inn in Clarkston Michigan in August for two nights.We had a great time.we stayed in a room on the lake side.It is beautiful.The manager Jason is so great.He took us on a speed boat many times and they had paddle boats and kayaks to use and fishing rods at no extra cost.I hope to go back often. read more

My boyfriend and I stayed here this past Sunday and had a fantastic time. The room was cozy, had very cute rustic decorations (I loved the toilet paper holder made from twigs!), and the bed was super comfortable. Tim was very accommodating and nice and was fun to talk to. I lived here as a child & this was my first time staying in Clarkston in 26 years. I couldn't have picked a better place. The owner & staff were great. In fact, Tim went out of his way to help us get our airline tickets taken care of the morning we checked out. The room was clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. The views were beautiful and it was centrally located to so many venues around town. I would go out of my way to stay here again and really hope to make it back soon. This place is a true gem. I'm on the road for work constantly and I will go out of my way to stay at the Olde Mill Inn when I'm on the East side of the state. The rooms are comfy, the staff is very friendly, and the location (with deck seating overlooking a beautiful lake) can't be beat. I can't reccomend this place enough! read more

We stayed there for a concert at DTE last summer...as soon as we got there the lady who checked us in (owners Mom) repeated at least 6 times "Quiet time is at 10pm."...over and over and over again, I'm like OKAY!!!!!!...first thing I did was to use the bathroom and OMG it STUNK so bad that I was happy we brought bottled water with us...no fresh city water here. Also, the bed was as hard as a rock, therefore really didn't sleep. Lastly, the walls are paper thin so you could hear your neighbor...will never go back and if I were you, spend your $60 somewhere else nearby...the huge deck they have on the lake is beautiful, but that is it. read more

Will start by saying owners started out nice! The rooms on the other hand are not! Very small & need of a lot of work! Yes bed are small (2 full size) & yes very hard! Not one night did we I ever get a good night sleep! Well our dog did! He slept in own bed for the full four days whenever we were in the room! Speaking of our dog, We brought our support animal & was charged $50 to have carpet cleaned which was never charged that ever before & just stayed in Wixom back in May! The carpets needed cleaning way before we arrived! Unfortunately, I didn't wear my shoes the first day & by the evening my feet were black! Our dog wouldn't walk on the carpet! He stayed on the bed the whole time! Then we had issues with people (other customers) smoking right outside our room, & on the patio deck in front of our window! The main issues with 1st part is they were NOT smoking cigarettes! We complained on the 2nd day because we got tired of smelling it every time we walked out the door or pulled in when coming back! Don't know who they were the first day, but the people on the 2nd day were people staying there & were known to the owner!!! Then didn't understand why of all the tables out on the back patio (lakeside) why the people who did smoke cig. always chose to sit in front of our window! Meaning we had to keep our blinds closed continuously! Thought that was very rude & disrespectful! No we don't smoke! So for us if you are going to smoke go do it & sit in front of your own room!!! Could go on but the last big issue was checkout! Owner offered me an extended checkout since our flight wasn't leaving till 7pm said he would charge us a half day price since the cleaning team would be getting in to clean our room later! My husband went to talk to him around 12:30 & the owner said he told me no such thing! I was not at the property so I then had rush back to the hotel & load our car in order to be out by 1pm! Then owner had nerve to ask if we had somewhere to go!!! The only memorable part of this stay were the ducks!!! I would NEVER stay again!!! Might be nice area, but extended stay customers or friends of owners don't make it a very nice place to stay!!! Oh yea, says no pets allowed, & we were allowed cuz of our support animal! Who does the cat belong to that was sitting in the window (inside the room) on the non-lakeside! Wasn't the same cat that owners had either!!!! What a joke! read more
