Initially, Old Yardley Park looks like any other grass land from the Queens Road entrance. However, once you begin to explore deeper, you'll uncover one of the oldest villages in Birmingham, which is just hidden behind a few trees and bushes. The area is a literal time capsule of the 15th century, and places you outside of the modern day Birmingham aesthetic that's just on the other side of the road. It's a perfect stretch of land to experience some historical culture, and many courting couples have been seen to spend hours here during the summer time.
The Church of St Edburgha, which sits at the main entrance of the park, is a beautiful piece of architecture, and has recently been restored to it's former glory after a lead theft last year. While many other structures such as a circle of drinking fountains in the church garden have been abandoned to show a true reflection of the past.
