My wife and I are full-time RVers. In our search for a spot to winter in Florida, we came across Old Town Campground 'N' Retreat. If you're expecting a RV resort with amenities galore, you will be sorely disappointed. This campground possesses more of a rustic feel, with mature trees galore. Campground sites are mostly sand and grass. Full hookups are available (power/water/sewer), and sites also have access to cable with 29 stations. Most of the sites are shaded, although there are some pull-through sites in the back portion of the campground which are not as shaded. The owner lives on-site and is very hands-on in the campground, constantly working on maintenance/upkeep/improvements. He's extremely helpful (guiding us into our site upon arrival, providing recommendations on recreation/dining/etc.), and he even hosts holiday functions at his residence for campers who will be onsite during holidays. Prices are very reasonable as well -- we are paying $300 per month for our site plus electricity. As part of our arrival, we also had to make a $50 electric deposit. Compared to other campgrounds in Florida, that is an outright bargain! Because it is more of a rustic campground, insects can be a nuisance. Our dogs are continually getting fleas and bug bites that we are having to treat. Also, cell phone signal can be spotty. We have Verizon and fluctuate between 1-2 bars of 4G and 2-3 bars of 3G. As someone who depends on a strong signal for work internet connectivity, this can be annoying at times. All in all, this is a campground I would recommend for the person who's looking for the rustic retreat to get away from it all. read more

Don't go to this place they lie to you. They take your money and if you pay a month in advance, don't look to get anything back cause they don't reimburse you after you've paid. I hate I ever stopped there. Cost me $450 for three days Highway robbery. read more

we were not able to go to old town Florida becuz of family emergency so we cancelled reservations. campground would not give us any refund at all even though the policy says they would redund half. wouldnt recommend this to anyone read more

I will never stay there again if you have a dog and they bark she will kick you out after she gets in your face and tell you to control your dog not a good campground to stay at read more

My wife, two dogs, 1 cat and I here for 4 months while looking to purchase a home. We loved it. It is shaded, staff were always friendly and helpful. It is rural Florida! Just to our likeing. read more

Great RV park!! I loved my time at this RV park. It is wooded and has a cow farm behind it. It is spacious and has great paved roads and areas to walk. It has bathrooms, showers, laundry facilities and even a dog park (not big but cool). Joe the owner was awesome! I arrived in the dark and he guided me to my spot with a golf card and a light. Joe gave me a great rundown of the restaurants and parks and places of interest in the area to visit. He filled me in on the local winery and the local vegetable stand and the grocery store. Joe was a wealth of info when I inquired about things like getting local shrimp, or a Cuban sandwich etc. My favorite places that we explored in the area are Horseshoe Beach - a quaint fishing village with great views and cool homes and some great places to eat. Cedar Key was awesome with amazing shops and pubs and views and a great place to walk and kick back. And Manatee Springs State Park was amazing with springs that were beautiful and colorful and we even saw Manatee that come in there for the winter. My favorite place to eat nearby was 19/98 Grill and Country Store. My site had 50 AMP service, Water, Sewer, Cable TV and WIFI. With Passport America club discount my site was only $114 bucks for a week. This park has bins to recycle cans. (a step in the right direction for environment) The park is quiet and clean and neat and I will look forward to return some time. I've posted photos from our time here. read more

I called this place and asked if they had an available spot: The lady over the phone asked my age; I said 28 and she said "NO!" there were no spots available for me. I am a foreigner and I have been driving this amazing country for a month now, coast to coast, and this was the worst treatment I have received. I wasn't asking for a favour. I am a costumer, like any other. She was rude and unprofessional but had she asked me, I would have told her I have a Masters degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and I would probably be the most educated person on her campground, despite my age. Rob is the owner and he was very welcoming at check-in. He gave us a list of local places of interest and also escorted us to our site. Unfortunately there were some fire ants at our water/electric post, so Rob took care of the situation immediately. Our full hookup site was spacious and level. Campground has private bathrooms/showers which were clean and awesome. The free wifi worked great and there are also 20 free cable channels but we didn't try them. There is a fantastic paved bike path about 2 miles away. Rob also kindly let us borrow a ladder during our stay. Thank you sir for the excellent service! read more

Old Town Campground is a laid back, small park with clean bathrooms and showers and laundry. We loved it there! It is close to a grocery store and gas station, restaurants and much more. We plan to stay at Old Town next year also. read more

Found this campground with escapees rv club. This a older community campground, 55 and older, not set up for kids, which is alright. Easy to find, road in is a little tight, smaller sites ,mainly backins, still no problem. Dog park is on the small side but doable,bathrooms and showers are up to date and nice. read more

This park is a diamond in the rough. It is ristic with sandy sites as opposed to concrete but has full hook-ups with large roomy sites for easy parking. Very cordial and helpful owner/operator runs a great park without a plethora of unneeded rules and regulations. Extremely dog friendly with a nice fenced dog run. We will definitely keep this place on the list to revisit. read more
