4 of us were going to spend a weekend of Heavy Metal debauchery at Hafan Y Mor holiday park a few miles down the road from Pwllheli, but the camp itself wanted almos £400 for the glorified caravan for the 3 days we were going to be there for,sod that we thought, let's find somewhere in Pwllheli instead.
And find somewhere I did in the shape of Old School Apartment, which as it turned out was a stupidly good decision to make, being as it was cheaper, warmer and more comfy that staying onsite at the festival.
The website makes the apartment sound and look really nice, but as we all know these things can be deceiving, and this website was no different in that it really did the place no justice at all.
The Old School Apartment takes up the top floor of what was once a,you guessed it,Old School! at the top of quite a steep hill, which because of this gives you a really nice view of Pwllheli and out into the sea. From the ouside the place doesn't look that much because you can only see the entrance down a few steps, but once down those steps and through a couple of doors you find yourself in a very large fully fitted kitchen, and I mean fully fitted, large double range style cooker, microwave, washing machine, tumble dryer, toaster. Even the cupboards were pretty much full with things like salt, pepper, tea bags and coffee and other things that we had taken with us thinking that we would have to take our own,how wrong we were!
Also in the kitchen was a tv and an i-pod docking station.
The living room came with a leather suite,a very warming gas fire,a tv with freeview box and dvd player,a hi-fi and a really nice touch,a telescope for all those star gazers amongst you. Also in there was a selection of board games and a dining table that seats 6.
There is a door in the living room that leads into the smallest of the bedrooms which contained 2 single beds.
Back outside of the living room is a hall way that leads you to 2 more big bedrooms that both come with 2 single bed in,one of the rooms also had a little tv in it on the dressing table, myself and Mrs Z claimed this one ('Cause we got there first),and a very large bathroom with a really big bath and a very good shower.
Back outside of the apartment there is a large patio area with a gas bbq, picnic tables and amazingly a boule pitch which is shared with the next door apartment The Marina Terrace (Also owned by the same people),but as there was nobody staying there,we had the outside all to ourselves.
Basically what we had for the weekend was a house situated on one floor, there was 4 of us but it would've still been really comfy if we had taken 6. It really was a nice place to stay and I can understand why it is solidly booked during holiday time. We had a great time when the weather wasn't brilliant,so I can imagine that it must be REALLY nice during the summer months....
Good stuff indeed..... read more
