The rooms are well lit and large enough to see multiple pieces but small enough to avoid getting loud or echoing heavily. The staff was super friendly and it looks like they are frequently offering different types of exhibitions or experiences for the community to share in - for free.

This highly honored accreditation brings national recognition to a museum for its commitment to excellence, accountability, high professional standards, and continued institutional improvement. We are one of only 12 art museums currently accredited in North Carolina. We offer visitors a sculpture courtyard, sensory gardens, and three revolving exhibitions annually featuring some of the most creative and expressive artwork from regional and national emerging/established artists. Waterworks is handicapped accessible. We provide designated handicapped parking spaces, wide entrance doors and an elevator for access to the 2nd floor. Benches are provided throughout the galleries for those requiring the need to sit. Waterworks is a cultural asset and destination; a vibrant, collaborative space for lifelong learning, and an economic development engine for Salisbury-Rowan County. We are proud of our sixty-two year history and our ability to respond and adapt to the needs of the communities we serve. We look forward to your visit!

Ughhhh no. This place is not for me. I guess if you live in Salisbury, and refuse to venture the…read moreshort distance down to Charlotte then I could almost see how you would convince yourself this place is worth going to. But even then, you've got to have a pretty skewed idea of what the rest of the world refers to as "standards." I think the main component of this place is the shop on the first floor, which is more of a random assortment of crap, that happens to be placed in jigsaw puzzle like manner. If there was ever anything you actually wanted to find here there is no way you could. I have a pretty strong opinion that there is a valid market for "antiques" but nobody wants to buy "old junk," which comprises the better part of the inventory. On the basement level is the wine "cellar," as they call it, and there is an actual temperature controlled room with a few wine bottles, but you can't actually get in to see it. All you see is dust-laden shelves with a mediocre sampling of mostly grocery store wines. Each thing on the shelf is typically just 1 bottle, so if you want more you have to special order it. There is a large section of North Carolina wines, all of which are just plain awful in my opinion. They also do wine tastings down in the basement, I believe on a weekly basis. This pretty much consists of the group of old people showing up every single week and gossiping while complaining about the wine that's being offered. I reluctantly attended a few of these and I was appalled at peoples' behavior considering they were getting outstanding wine and a few hor'dourves for next to nothing.
