Honestly, this is so much better than the older bus station, not that I really catch buses all this…read moremuch these days, namely because flying is so much cheaper, and convenient, and faster (though not so environmentally friendly). Yeah, the old bus station was a bit of a dump, however this newer one has great facilities, and is a much better place for buses that come through Adelaide, which is probably the major non-car method of getting around the state. Yeah, they have definitely made it a much better place to catch buses from.

That 6 hour Stateliner trip with 8 million stops to Mount Gambier is the bane of my existence and as soon as I could get my license I was saving for a car so I wouldn't have to travel on the bus anymore. Having said that, for those who don't mind the bus the service has greatly improved as has the facilities. The new Central Bus Station has been there for a few years but looks so much nicer than the sad looking building next door that was its former residences. The building is light and airy and there is plenty of seating room while you wait. There is big row of customer service people who can help with your questions and a little café to purchase magazines or food for the trip. There are nice toilet facilities and a freight area where you can pick up packages sent up on the buses. A definite improvement on what used to be there before, although there is still not great parking which becomes a pain.

It is basically…read morea bus interchange, but it is located on a dedicated busway that heads straight into the city. Actually, I haven't been on it since I left Adelaide, and they apparently have upgraded it somewhat, making the trip into the city even faster. Look, there isn't anything too fancy here, no restrooms, no kiosk, just shelters (and not particularly good ones either), and lots of buses that stop on their way into the city. Yeah, this thing that I do like about this place is that it is pretty quick to get into the city using the Obahn.

Okay, this isn't a train station, but it is close enough. It is one of the stations located along…read moreAdelaide's busway, and is actually the first station you arrive at when you are heading out from the city. A number of the buses will simply pass straight through here, while others will stop. It is actually rather small, but living nearby can be pretty useful, particularly since the trip into the city really doesn't take all that long. Not much in the way of facilities though, and certainly no shops within a reasonable distance. Still, it works and is definitely better than nothing.

This place has been completely done up since I was last here. Well, not quite because I grew up in…read morethe area, and this railway station used to be terrible, even after they built the shopping centre nearby. It seems as if somebody had realised that a station near a shopping needs to be a little nicer than what they originally had there. So, I certainly give it points for the upgrade.
