Really enjoyed my stay at the Caddo Cabin. If you're looking for a quiet getaway off the beaten…read morepath, then this is your place. A friend and I spent three nights here over the 4th Of July weekend and we had a blast. The cabin was perfectly fine for two people, with a king bed in the bedroom and a pull out sleeper sofa in the living area. There was a tv with a few satellite channels and a DVD player with a few dvds. The tv is not a smart tv so you'll need to bring your own device like a fire stick if you'd like to stream Netflix etc... No issues with the internet. The kitchen is well stocked with everything necessary for cooking. There were a few basic spices and coffee was provided with various creamers and sweeteners. Large charcoal grill outside with the necessary tools, including a charcoal chimney. Bring your own charcoal. The water pressure was good and the a/c worked like a charm in the 100 degree heat. Spent a lot of time on the mosquito-free screened in porch, which had several seats and a powerful fan to keep us cool. Having access to Kayaks, and a dock to launch them from was a huge plus. We spent most of our time kayaking around Caddo Lake. The kayaks/dock are a short 3-4 minute walk to another home located directly on the water, which is also owned by the same owners of the Caddo Cabin. All of the kayaking equipment was in good working condition. A golf cart is provided, which is shared with a neighboring cabin. It was nice to have for going to the local stores / restaurants. Made several trips to Johnson's Ranch Marina, Caddo Outpost, and the Shady Glade restaurant. All of which I highly recommend. Very nice people. If you're looking for some good souvenirs, MeMaw's t-shirts is a great option with custom shirts and other souvenirs. Definitely hit up the Uncertain Flea Market, which is open on the 1st and 3rd weekends of every month. The only slight downside to the cabin is its proximity to the other cabin on the property. It is not very private if the other cabin is occupied. If you're looking for something more private, I'd recommend going with one of the other homes that the owners have available. For the price, though, this place can't be beat, and I was perfectly fine with the proximity to the other cabin given how much money we saved. The owners are very kind, and promptly responded to any questions we had during our stay. I fully plan on returning for another stay in the near future. This place really is a hidden gem.

Served us well! 5/5…read more Stayed Jan 2018 Darlene T. Pretty inside & out, soothing woodsy setting w/ the amazingly perfect windows to enjoy it. Subdued, tasteful, mostly utilitarian decorating instead of overload you see in some cabins or B&Bs. Hosts literally thought of EVERYTHING you might need, name it. An extremely well-stocked kitchen & bathroom & shockingly generous supply of edibles/drinkables/goodies. We used the chiminea (fat sticks easily gleaned from yard to feed it) & also the little grill, nice. Enjoyed the whimsical yard art, again, liked their tastes. There was even a bottle tree outside to trap bad spirits, must be doing its job, lol. Reception for Wi-Fi and cell good. There were CDs & DVDs & a player but the TV also had cable, so 7 channels, I think, hope you like old Westerns & Forensic Files reruns, we did. Of the few DVDS they had, one was an older fave of ours, The Good Girl, so great to see again. Was cool, rainy weekend so we didn't walk afield, maybe next time but then next time might order up another rainy weekend, works for us. A few times we heard a braying donkey neighbor some distance, didn't bother us, made up for not hearing or seeing much of the wildlife other reviewers talked about. Did see birds, squirrels and an armadillo. When I say hosts thought of everything, I mean it, no, really, you'll find every single little thing you'd ever need, plus books to read (finished one from home and left it & a magazine for the stack) & cabin had a binder of instructions about anything & everything inside the place (check it out, we found lots of crucial info in there) plus a roundup of local things to do, nice mentions of the very fine Caldwell Zoo & the Tyler State Park. We welcomed guidance on how to start shower (pull ring down from faucet, aha!). If I had to say anything remotely negative it's that the steep stairs challenged me as I'm recovering from an injury. But the bed at the top made up for it. What else. Well, it was just nearly too perfect & afraid we might have trouble booking it during later, finer weather. We'd gone there for the singer-songwriter series, this one for the insanely talented Jeff Black who performed at the Old Firehouse. We had to skip out of the performance halfway through & head home early, ever-on-call husband had sudden work obligation pop up so we didn't get all the good out of Edom, our cabin & the concert, but we still left happy. Thx to you, Mr/Mr W

As others have mentioned, it's a little pricey given the sites aren't full=service, but still a good value with the location and other amenities. Shower facilities were very clean. Only real negative is the that the majority of sites--especially lake front--are super not level, even though the website says they are all level. First time our automatic levelers wouldn't work. Had to use a total of 20 leveler blocks to get the back end of our 25' RV level. There are a few level spots, but you can't tell from the website. Quite misleading. We'll go back but only if we can get into one of the few level spots we found.

Fishing is easy right off the center platform and the little store has minnows, worms, etc... everything you need!! Rv spots have water and electric, & really large nice fire pits. Staff are very friendly and responsive. They have Taco Tuesday (taco truck) with several taco and burrito options ( tacos were very good!) and with purchase of a meal you get a free margarita! There are fully furnished cabins to rent, and they even have glamping tents with air conditioning! Cabins and glamping sites are kinda spendy, but with all the amenities available, the beautiful grounds and really nice and helpful staff, its a good value for sure!

We had our college Aggie Corps buddies reunion this past weekend; Pat's Place was the perfect place. There are now 6 more couples from all over Central and East Texas who know about Vacation Country Rentals. They are already spreading the word. Mark and Brenda are such wonderful proprietors they deserve the acknowledgement. Book your stay, get ready to have all your expectations met, and please respect the property. Help us repeat users continue to enjoy what Vacation Country Rentals has to offer. Let's all do our part to keep the houses and grounds in great shape. I would recommend you bring your own pillows just because we all get used to our own special comforts. Cathy

There's a nice…read morecovered front porch and the backyard area is great, including two porches - one uncovered directly attached to the house and one separate covered porch / veranda. The separate veranda was great and included its own lighting and ceiling fan. The rest of the yard was spacious and was great for the kids. If you're there to watch TV and not enjoy the lake or great outdoors, you'll be disappointed in the number of channels and reception/HD quality, but this wasn't an issue for us. We weren't there to watch much TV. :) (We did have a few football games on the background, which is why I'm noting the # channels and picture quality.) The lake was a fairly short walk away and the pier area was great. The kayaks were very nice and seemed like new. There are a lot of piers that are in close proximity, so you definitely share the area, but this didn't bother us at all. I will say that there are quite a few stairs leading to and fro the pier / water area, so it might not be friendly for folks who are older, have bad knees, aren't in as good shape, etc. But the access didn't bother us at all. There are bait shops walking distance and a boat ramp with $5 access. Crockett has plenty to offer, including restaurants, bars, an HEB (and yes, a Wally World), and shops. And then the national forest isn't far either, so you have access to pretty much everything you need for a great outdoorsy getaway. The owners really helped make the trip. Great hospitality, super responsive and helpful, and easy to work with. Customer service makes all the difference in the world! We'd recommend this place to any of our friends! And a lot of the other rentals in the area looked pretty awesome, too, from the outside. One of the houses actually ON the water would be pretty sweet, although we used our backyard quite a bit, too. Lots of local options.
