We sat and had a drink next to the bar and were told we would be informed when the table was ready. 35 minutes later.... no one had came to tell us our table was ready yet, despite there being 5 empty tables and had watched numerous people finish and leave. When paying for our drinks and saying we were leaving, there wasn't even an apology. Thank you for spoiling my father's birthday and our afternoon. Have never felt so unwelcome. Will be telling everyone I know to avoid at all costs. Rude.

Food prices are reasonable and everything I've had here has been gorg. I tried the kedgeree last week and it was bliss. Perfect. Staff are really nice and genuinely helpful. Also they now do a variety of puds rather than just waffles which left me and friend/family a bit cold. Been for a few roasts and always good. Book though, gets busy. So yea, it's great, prob better for dins or a quiet drink these days...I came here New Years quite a few years back (pre poshness) and had a dance off with a snooker cue as a prop...can't do that anymore! Been frequenting the Boot for many years on my travels and…read morenot only is this a fantastic example of a well kept, well run traditional English Pub, but they have a great secret which has really kept my Dad going through covid lock downs and at a dark medical time for him. At the start of the pandemic and the lock down when everything was fear and unknown, my dad had the return of a lot of heart issues. During lockdown he had severval heart surgeries in London, although he lives isolated close by The Boot after having a defibrillator installed which then gave him an automatic 6 month driving ban, he was destraught. He literally lives isolated on a long country road of about 5 houses. He checked into meals on wheels for his area and found that The Boot gets to work early in the day and supplies all the great meals for volunteers to deliver. So not only did my get well fed for months but with great food. So doubly thank you The Boot, that'll always keep you as a special favourite of mine when I am visiting.

It's just extremely cozy and nice. If you wanna meet locals, go there as they will hang out there. Full bar with reasonable prices and really good, home cooked and traditional food like bangers and mash or Mac and cheese. The owner himself and his wife are running the pub and we will most definitely return soon to try out other foods and drinks and to soak up the atmosphere on a cold autumn night.

We (2 of us) had 3 courses each, 2 sides and 3 alcohol drinks for £100 which is good going around here. For starters we had the crab terrine with smoked paprika aioli (special) and the king scallops with swordfish and cream sauce. These were the best dishes of the evening. Light and sumptuous! For mains we had fillet steak and the rib eye! Both very nice, and good portions. We finished off with a sticky toffee pudding and apricot sorbet! All of this washed down with a couple of glasses of rose prosecco and a well priced glass of Chenin Blanc. We would have rated 5 stars if it weren't for the steak being a bit overdone and the scallops being more queenie than king but this didn't detract from a lovely meal and evening. We'll be back!
