Interestingly they haven't bothered to theme the music accordingly, which is common in American diners that are going for that retro vibe. Other pluses; bottomless coffee, alcohol and cocktails available, a massive menu that ranges from normal (cheeseburger) to ridiculous (peanut butter cheeseburger), and huge portions. The burgers all come with steak fries and a side, which can be coleslaw, salad, or corn on the cob. We had the onion rings as an appetizer, which were just okay. The desserts look a bit pricey but again the portions are huge so you can easily share. I got the waffle burger, which was one of the gimmicky daily specials so it may be that the normal selections are better, but it was a bit tasteless. The bacon (British, not American, but still tasty) was fine but probably needed to be crisped a little to add texture, and the waffles soaked up the syrup so the overall effect ended up a bit dry and the burger patty itself was a little bland. Prices are a bit high (most of the burgers come in around £9.50) but the portions are certainly generous, so if the food quality was a little higher I think I'd add a star. Service was mixed, starting with a strangely negative interaction with one server but followed by our server being very sweet and friendly. However he was also clearly overworked and rushing around like mad.

They have two levels - small kids and for older kids - both offer good choice. They also provide actual vegetables (!) as a side for the kids. Kids get a pack to colour and draw and answer questions. It's a good pack. And they will want to visit the loos - really! - just to hear the Italiam being spoken! Food for adults has a good range and is mostly good. We have eaten here so often that there have been a few duff meals but generally it is good. Service very friendly from a staff that - unusually for a chain - have been there for a long time. Plenty of parking and right next to the cinema. Good fro birthdays - they'll make a fuss.

The food is lovely, always hot and freshly made. Portion sizes are generous without being over the top! The Staff are very friendly and helpful. The menu choices are mainly Italian American in style, with pastas, salads, burgers, steaks and fries. It is in the middle of the town centre so there is parking nearby. It is a very light and airy restaurant too.

Buddies Restaurant, people reading this will no doubt think I'm joking. Do you know why they will think I am joking? Because it is completely insane to use September 11th memorial service footage spliced together with clips from the Simpsons to add background colour to your theme diner. No restaurant owner would do that. Unless something about people crying reminded that restaurant owner of cheese fries. (Note to customers: the overpriced food takes forever to arrive, which gives you plenty of time for your stomach to wrench whilst you contemplate the deep emotional scars of national tragedy.)
