Breakfasts are plentiful, evening meals are very nice and a welcome alternative to having to walk the streets in search of something to eat. The hosts/owners of the hotel are very friendly people and give you the impression that they actually value your custom. Room rates are very acceptable - particularly if you can bag yourself a sea view room, and if you're prepared to spend a little extra then theres a luxury 'honeymoon suite' on the top floor. I stayed in room 21 on the night of Saturday 10th June 2023 and i was extremely surprised when my room that was just a twin room had a balcony that overlooked the town nicely. Entire room was spotlessly clean including things like the bath, toilet, beds etc. The breakfast was the best breakfast i had had in a very long time, cooked to perfection. We first went here 12 years ago for our honeymoon. My parents had booked us into the grand hotel…read morebut the room was awful and we argued until we got our money back and the young lady on reception advised us to try the riviera across the road. It was a vast improvement on what we had just seen. The owners were lovely and showed us a few rooms before we picked one and paid for it. It was conformtable with decent space around the bed with a good view and was ensuite and had tea and coffee. The floor boards creaked abit as they tend to do in any older building. The breakfast was lovely - well cooked and well presented with ample choice of hot and cold, traditional breakfast as well as kippers or porriage (or vegertarian cooked breakfast) - so would suit all tastes. The staff are friendly and helpful and are happy to give advice on where to go. You also have the option of booking evening meals and they do have a licence to serve alcohol in a small bar area. We have been going back once a year ever since. The only downside is now it is getting a bit pricey as you pay per person not per room so there are less expensive B&Bs available in the area. They do have a web site you can check out.

Ideally placed for both north and south beaches, and the harbour, the hotel offers en-suite facilities in some rooms, and basic facilities for others. There are five guest rooms, newly double-glazed, and each with colour TV and tea and coffee making facilities. There is a residents' lounge bar, with a good selection of drinks, and games such as Scrabble, dominoes and cards, should the heavens open. Prices range from £20 to £30 person per night, including full English breakfast. Edited to add that the owners work hard to make stays enjoyable, for instance by offering parking permits, and in their hospitality. I have very much enjoyed my stays here!

When I was last there, I received…read morethe usual warm welcome from the owners, Rodney and Jackie Collins, and my room was, as ever, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Being a light sleeper, the double-glazing in the room is very welcome. On my last visit, I had dinner there on two nights. One meal was particularly memorable - fresh local crab, beautifully prepared and served with a decent well-chilled wine. Next to the dining room is a small, well-stocked bar. For me, this is an above average guest house, and I totally recommend it - for single visitors and families alike. Not only for the room and the food and the welcome, but also because all local amenities (shops, bars, beach etc) are immediately nearby.
