This is a newer spot in a historic location in the heart of Cork offering a large selection of wine by the glass or bottle. They also have small bites and charcuterie which I didn't get to try since I had eaten prior.
I was hoping to hang out for a bit at the bar but the service wasn't great. I didn't experience the same kind of hospitality I had at other bars in Cork, or in Ireland for that matter. The bartenders seemed distracted talking to one another and their friend at the bar, both leaving the bar vacant frequently for smoke breaks. Maybe it's a cultural thing, but I was surprised by how often they were leaving the place unattended.
I enjoyed the one glass of wine which was recommended to me but sort of felt like I was barging in on the personal conversation the bartenders were having amongst themselves. However, the ambiance is really nice and the selection is great. This is probably a better spot for a group or a date night and not somewhere I'd recommend for solo travelers. If you do go solo, maybe bring a book to keep yourself occupied as the opportunity to strike up conversation is scarce. read more
