It's always fun to attend annual State Fair and yes, it's all about the food. There was a good deal of food vendors, right down to $3.00 dollar tasty tamales. However, this year it seem the State Fair had less promotional venders. All in all it was a fun day at the fair.

Maybe it's because I'm a bitter old man but the fair just seems to have lost its attraction for me. My wife still likes it so I end up most years having to hobble my disabled self through it. A funny thing this year while I was waiting for my wife to purchase her "fresh squeezed" lemonade in which the powder had to be shaken to serve, a lady in a wheelchair scooter saw me with my cane and asked why I didn't have a power chair. When I explained $60 bucks she actually informed me it's now 65. $65 bucks to rent a power chair. I have seen this on more than one occasion. Besides greed why would it cost so damn much to rent one of these??? It seems like instead of attempting to help the disabled they are more interested in robbing us. The fair was the standard fair way overpriced food 16-18 bucks for a turkey leg. 12 bucks or so for a taco salad. It has the rides for the kids I think the armbands are about 20-30 dollars. Oh also the fair did raise the price of admission to 15 a person. Ridiculous to me. Reply to me and let me know if your experience is similar

I love the Fair. I volunteered for 4 days and so I got to sample lots of the awesome foods that were available. The Fried cheese curd taco was my favorite. I do wish that it wasn't as expensive as it is. I see lots of families out there and wonder how they can afford it. I watched several shows. The Puppies of Penzance, the Swift Pigs, The Chinese Acrobats and the Grizzly bear show. I enjoyed all of them. I do with that they had some of the acts earlier in the day. I was there on senior day and it was scorching hot. I think alot of the older people had to leave to escape the heat and weren't able to enjoy some of the entertainment that was only available in the afternoons. I watched the bands march. I love seeing all the young people out participating in band. I will definitely be there again next year.

The funnel cake is yummiest at the Oklahoma State Fair!

You have to go to the Oklahoma State Fair at least once! I go just to see the 6-Draft horse team competition. It is with Clydesdales, Percherons and Belgians. All 100% amazing gentle giants! This competition is with the top 12 teams in the country. A final winner for the year is selected. It is truly amazing! The barns are spotless and all the animals beautiful! Sure the parking is crazy and it might rain but you have to go to the fair!

This is my forth state fair; I've been to NY, MD, CA and now OK. After growing up going to the CA state fair every year expectations are very high but after NY & MD hopes are low. We looked up prices online and knew what to expect. We decided to pay instead of taking advantage of military Monday since it was going to be 20 degrees cooler 2 days later. We entered through a smaller side entrance possibly because the welcome was nothing. Nothing even saying state fair and then walked along a road and boom!! Fair food vendors. We saw the huge Ferris wheel and enjoyed the local vendors in that area. We went into other buildings and did like the small display with information & education about OK. Maybe we are the minority but this is what my husband & I remember most about the CA fair. The displays representing the state and why your state is great. I would love to see so much more of this!! The food is everywhere but seating is so limited. After spending $12 for and Indian taco or $6 for lemonade oh want to sit and enjoy it. There needs to be a lot more tables & seating throughout the fair. The midway was fun. The cost was high! We paid $140 for our family's wrist bands. Next year I will take advantage of the online presale for sure. I LOVED the "Made in Oklahoma" booth. We enjoyed sampling mead & talking the The Flower Shop winery and look forward to visiting. We enjoyed the 4H area and the birthing center. Next year we will also make sure to check the schedule for shows. Overall we rated the #2 in our state fair visits. A very fun day and we look forward to attending each year as a family.

Season passes enable us to come-n-go as we please, for the full 11-days without having to cram all the food and fun in one glutinous, exhausting, long day sucking the joy out of you... which might work for some people, just not us. If you love the nostalgia of an old fashioned European Family Circus the Zoppé Italian Family Circus, established in 1842, is a MUST SEE!! They offer shows A & B (12 & 6pm) and both are spectacular! Plus, THIS IS THEIR LAST YEAR IN OKC... so sad!! And DON'T MISS OUT, on this FREE SHOW!! If you're not much into rides the fair offers many other free types of entertainment & activities. We love walking through the buildings and checking out the wide variety of vendors... from beauty & household products, to clothing & accessories to unique pet wares & toys (for Big & Small kids). Plus, it's always fun to see Teresa the My Pillow lady, with great pillows. We usually find something neat to bring home. Oh & if you like a deal, always check on good State Fair deals... sometimes, you get discounts if you purchase floor models & pick-up on the last day of the fair. The Agriculture bldg & barns offers a great learning experience for your children with animals, birthing, babies, bugs, the circle of life, and our responsibilities in it. Sometimes, people forget where our food comes from... the fair offers a great opportunity to teach & learn about life. The Creative Arts bldg is full of intriguing arts, crafts, collections, & cooking/baking works for those interested in unique hobbies & more serious careers.... with cooking/baking demos to watch if you might be interested in dabbling yourself. The Modern Living bldg Is a Hands-on-Spot for Hands-on-Fun for your kids. Entertainment, besides, being as far as the eye can see is also available at exciting & many FREE shows... did you see the Zoppé Italian Family Circus, yet?... to local talent singing & playing in the Wine Garden where you can relax while sipping wine... we were lucky to see Maddox Ross on The Patio, Thursday eve and Beatle Mania Live on The Chickasaw Country Entertainment Stage, Saturday eve, while friends enjoyed Disney on Ice presents "Dare to Dream" with Moana (tickets are $15-$45) at the Jim Norick Arena. Country duo Big & Rich is next Friday (tickets $25-$38). Looking for a new car or truck? I know, it seems crazy but you can check-out the vehicles and prices at the Auto show in The Pavilion bldg. fun to look. For the foodies there's a plentiful cornucopia of food concessions everywhere and some have really good coupons... helping you to try several items! With all this going on, it's no wonder why we get a Season Pass and go almost every day... plus, we usually go early and leave a little early too... avoiding some of the crazies and crowds... speaking of which we were happy to see many police officers, fire, & rescue there ready to offer assistance, if/when needed... we thanked them for being there and I saw others do the same... although, they can't be everywhere all the time, it's reassuring to know they are there. I know this is a lot of info, hopefully, you found it helpful... useful and cool :) more State Fair info is at Ok state fair.com & the Zoppé Italian Family Circus has a schedule on Zoppe.net plus they're on FB & YouTube but you really should experience both live shows.... take care & enjoy!

Loved the fair! The best part was the inside stations. We enjoyed seeing a lot of fun businesses market their merchandise, the best being the massage chairs. I got the fried cheese which was delicious and my husband got a corn dog he said was amazing. The only thing that is annoying is how expensive it is to get in and to park. We plan to return again next year, hopefully they will still have $2 Tuesdays.

Wow, I was really pleased with the state fair this year! Normally, I feel like it's something that you go to and you're like, "Well, I'm good for another few years," and that's that. I had a lot of fun this year though! My favorite part was the Ferris Wheel. It's always so nostalgic and it's also really peaceful to be up in the sky seeing everything all lit up (Well, unless you have a fear of heights... In that case, not so much!) And it was fun trying the different fair foods and seeing all the different vendors who set up shop there. I think the most important thing is to go with some friends who are just as excited as you are about it and don't be afraid to embrace the child within! We sure did and it was a blast!

LEGO exhibit at the fair. This was a nice break.

They were tasty, but we had hoped for just a bit more out of our day. (To be fair, we did find a mostly empty barn with some beautifully groomed cows, but we saw plenty of cows on our way to and from the fair. so they did not excite.)

The Oklahoma State Fair is possibly one of the best limited attractions for an outsider to witness, and a fun way for locals to get out and do something different. The parking is free, on rolling grassy knolls and so be sure to take your allergy meds, and figure out how in the world you're going to get out of there without crashing into another car or finding yourself in a ditch. It's a tricky one and officers may not be around to assist, so take note. Crowds increase towards the evenings as well. Nobody seems to mind the sun here, or douses themselves with sunscreen before heading into the fair. If you're going to be here for a while, I do recommend that you shower in the sunscreen and bring some water. Heading into the fair you'll see many people on dates, families, fathers and sons, mothers and their daughters, and siblings all trolleying at a casual pace. Whether they know it or not, they're in for a good time at a massive, I repeat, massive state fair. It took me about two hours, given the crowd on the Friday afternoon and heat, to make the entire round. See: http://bit.ly/1x9gmat Here are list of some of the food items you'll find at the fair: Deep fried okra Deep fried jalapenos Deep fried Oreos Deep fried Snickers Deep fried Twinkies Gyros the size of your face (see: http://bit.ly/1uxeXLx) Turkey legs Ice cream Fresh squeezed lemonade (see: http://bit.ly/1EjiUVC) Funnel Cake Bacon wrapped corn dogs Roast beef sundaes Banana splits Indian tacos Parfaits It's nuts as to how many food, drinks, and games they have outside of all the competitions for livestock (See: http://bit.ly/1olpcjK) There are also halls that exhibit many vendors who showcase their products from leather goods (you can get your cowboy gear here), to jacuzzis, to textiles, to all kinds of preserves. I was nearly wrangled by a rather large Chinese man for a $15 bonsai tree. It was worth the chuckle. This fair puts to shame so many other fairs I have been to, and that's simply because of it's size.Check it out, including all the Native American dances and attractions (see http://bit.ly/1olpuqP and the log http://bit.ly/1uwOvlL). If you're here because you're not coming back I recommend ya get a little bit of history in ya, then smash your face with a heart attack, and if you make it far enough, give all your money to a carney who will gladly take all your money. You'll come out of it looking like a state fair rockstar.

Prices at one of the food trucks

So overpriced . Dirty . Super crowded . The loaded card you can purchase is pretty useless when it comes to rides and games We literally didn't find a single thing that we could use it on. Lines were very long. So overcrowded it was hard just getting to where you wanted to go Bc of the long lines of people everywhere. Everything is CASH. They want that CASH MONEY. No paper trail . Smh . Nice thing was the security . Lots of police presence and metal detectors at the front . All in all a crappy waste of money though definitely wouldn't come back .

No way! There's no way i get the first to review on the fair!!! SCORE! I'm damn excited! Okay! Let's do this! What can I say about the fair? I never miss it. Not in as long as my memory serves me. And its as grand or as crap as you want it to be. Buy your tickets online ahead of time and pick them up at will call. This will save you at least an hour. Wear a hat (that wont fly off during a ride) and bring your camera. Most importantly, bring your appetite and a sense of humor. You're going to need it. Pizza on a a stick, sure. Frozen chocolate bananas WITH nuts, absolutely. Lemonade, lemonade, lemonade Beer, they've got that too Turkey legs, you bet your sweet ass! Cinnamon rolls Chocolate covered bacon Chocolate covered cheesecake soft serve slush indian tacos pita bbq... need I go on? fried oreos fried twinkies fried cheesecake fried butter okay, now I draw the line. Games, prizes, and TONS of rides. Get the wrist band for $30 and spring for the $10 'fast pass'... $40 for unlimited rides all week and you get to skip the line? YES! This is a definite win. Now why would I give the state fair 4 stars? Livestock. I love seeing high school kids show their sheep, cows, and horses. There's nothing that gives me more joy than seeing a young kid out there, taking the day off from school to show an animal they've spent every single day with for the last year. Gives me that warm feeling inside to see our youth working hard in the disappearing farming industry. Loads of indoor exhibits, made in oklahoma stuff, tons of OU and that other school's (OSU) merch, a little autoshow, dippin dots, fudge, roasted nuts, WAIT- we're talking about food again? How did that happen? Oh right, its the state fair. Be prepared to have your feet stepped on, (my left toe nail is completely broken off) kids crying, overheating, and paying out the nose for everything. But its the experience, and I wouldn't miss it for the world. PLUS if you're lucky you can catch a great concert and some bull riding. Lighten up and enjoy your gluttony.

    The sign says it all.

There are people who enjoy a fair and people who think they do, but really don't. You can tell who these people are. The non-fair people try to enjoy the fair, but follow each complement with a "but" or "you know" it was (any of the following) hot, crowded, sticky, smelly.... blah, blah, blah. I, and my husband, love a fair. And the Oklahoma State Fair is the place to be. I have been coming to the fair since I was in 4-H oh so many years ago. It has gone through some changes and seems to have found its groove. This year was a good fair year. The 4-H building was back and there was a good showing of state wide bakers, crafters, knitters, woodworkers and the like. These displays make me feel like going to Hobby Lobby and whipping out my glue gun to create something. Or, it inspires me to think I am more than a box cake baker. Next up the buildings filled with all sorts of goodies. Need a "doggy bag"... not the kind with left overs in it. A bag that belongs on Shark-Tank or "As Seen on TV." It is a bag that you zip around your muddy, wet dog that will contain the mud and clean him up enough so that he can be released into the house again. I would have killed for a live demonstration of this. Maybe next year we'll see a Schrodinger's Cat Box... This is for you Big Bang fans. There were roasted, candied nuts, taffy, candy, all sorts of western wear items, local crafts and the lot. Think mini Affair of the Hearts. But just in case you think it is all capitalism, there are buildings with live critters. The area with the butterflies was spectacular. The display showing them "hatch" from cocoons was very interesting. If you need a trip to the farm, more buildings allow you to explore the agribusiness of Oklahoma. And finally, what we have all been waiting for... the food. Sing along everyone....A fair is a veritable smorgasbord orgasbord orgasbord After the crowds have ceased Each night when the lights go out It can be found on the ground all around Oh, what a ratly feast! Come hungry and ready to embarrass yourself. We had the following: Cheese cake on a stick coated in chocolate. Don't judge. It was amazing. The cheese cake was tart and creamy. Wonderful and huge. Deep fried mac and cheese. You get the picture. Deep fried watermelon. I could pass on this. But the hubby was okay with it as it had a frosting dipping sauce. This was hard to describe. It was battered in a sweet cinnamon batter and fried. The watermelon was molten hot and the taste was not really like watermelon. Fried Banana Pudding. This was an interesting take as I was not sure how one would deep fry banana pudding... but hey they deep fry butter now. It was banana and pudding in a spring roll wrapper, fried and coated in cinnamon sugar. It was served with whipped topping and crushed 'nilla wafers. I am hooked. Root beer. Ice cold in a mini jug. Perfection. Salted caramel apple. Nuf said. .... Oh what a ratly feast (Charlotte's Web)

I am not a huge country fan but I love a good music festival especially when it is close to home. I went to the main stage events on Friday and I was blown away by Merle Haggard! I was the most excited to see this country legend live and he put on a great show! Saturday I really enjoyed listening to Randy Rogers and Lady Antebellum. The event was held in the old ford dealership and the location was nice, but It would have been better if we had been able to bring blankets and chairs inside for more comfortable seating. Even if they had an area in the back where you could have set up a chair or had a blanket it would have improved the event greatly. The set up was great if you like dancing and walking around. The food trucks around the main stage felt adequate for the number of people in attendance. The beer was $5 and a water was $4 which was pricey. I felt that you should have been able to bring in some water with you due to the heat and humidity, but I understand they wanted to make money. I just always worry that people will not drink enough water in the heat. I saw at least two people being seen by medics and both looked to be because of heat and dehydration. The event was spread out all over downtown and the stages were pretty far apart. It was also a little frustrating that once you were in the main stage you couldn't leave and check out the other areas of the festival. All in all I feel this event was a success! It was the first year of Okc Fest and I would be interested in checking it out if it happens again next year! I really debated on giving it five stars, but I feel there is room for improvement next year.

Once again the OKC Fest rocks! The lineup couldn't have been better! Can't wait until next year!read more

While, it is a big event, it really wasn't the same at all. It used to be at OU Duck Pond and it's now at Reaves Park. I'm pretty sure it had to move away from the duck pond because of parking issues, but parking was not much better at Reaves. Unless you go very early in the morning while everything is being setup, expect to park in a galaxy far far away. At least it's free parking. The entrance is awkward. You will see the jousters on the outskirts (this is not a design flaw imo because you can't forget where they are) then you wind around a million porta potties and it's like your switchbacking until you finally cross into a clearing filled with booths. It's not quite big enough for the amount of pedestrian traffic there is but I was relieved that the fair hadn't been reduced to an extremely long sidewalk sale. My favorite part is watching the blacksmiths and other artisans who make stuff right of you. I love seeing the Medieval characters that people dream up and prance around in. I love the Human Chess Board and the Mermaids are still there, even though there is no water for them to lay around in. Food vendors are pricy, make sure you know exactly what you want or eat before you go. There is no price for parking or entry so any money you spend is going directly to food trucks or the individuals selling their goods.

Oklahoma Craft Beer Festival is an annual event and is not to be missed if you like beer. 2016…read moremarked the sixth year for the festival, and was the second year for the festival to be held indoors at the Cox Convention Center. The festival organizers moved the event from the parking lot next to Tapwerks due to inclement weather in 2015, and it worked so well, it's now the spot (more space and no weather worries). I did not attend the festival at the previous location, but I did attend last year and this year. In my opinion, the organizers are doing a great job of creating an excellent beer festival that maybe someday will compete with the *holy grail. The OCBF is the place to try all sorts of Oklahoma brews as well as non-Okie beers (there were over 300 beers to try this year). Also, OCBF included homebrewers who were sponsored by established breweries this year. I really enjoyed meeting and talking to the homebrewers. The festival also included three food trucks outside this year, and while the food truck spot was pretty cramped, it was nice to have them at the very moment I realized I'd completed my first "power hour" of the day (thank you, food trucks!). There also were multiple water stations around the Convention Center which was great. I noticed the **pretzel necklace made more of an appearance this year than last year, so I think it's catching on here. One of the best parts of a beer festival is getting to try special releases that are only available at the festival. Several breweries did offer special releases during each session and I hope this is an area of improvement in future festivals. I think other areas of improvement are: create a dedicated area for designated drivers with non-alcoholic drinks and snacks. Have some games, some live music, etc. All in all, though, this is an impressive festival and I'm really glad we have it. Other note: The VIP session goers were given a glass tasting cup. Seriously? *Great American Beer Festival, GABF, in Denver. **It's a thing.

Dates/Times: Fri, 3 May: 10am-7pm; Sat, 10am-8pm; Sun, 11am-5pm Details: The 2019 Edmond Arts Festival was held the first weekend in May. Local artists and those from across the US came to display their Arts and crafts. Arts presented ranged from drawings, paintings, sculptures, photography, pottery, jewelry, and furniture. White tents were set up for the artists to present their work for viewing and for sale. Some artists worked on paintings and drawings during the festival. Bands, musicians, and dancers were scheduled throughout the weekend. Food/drinks: Food, ice cream, wine, and beer trucks and tents were available for merchants to sell their specialties. There were plenty of tables and chairs set up for people to sit, relax, and eat and drink. Misc: There were signs stating "no animals allowed, except service dogs;" but I saw two dogs that definitely weren't service dogs. On Sunday, the last day when I went, someone dressed up in a Spider-Man costume. Posted on Thursday, 16 May 2019

As a festive destination, Broadway in Edmond is just okay. It could use more restaurants/lounges/bars and trendy stores. But it does bring most of the better food trucks in for this monthly summer event. And various local bands rock the stage from 6-10 pm. I do wish it went later, midnight would be perfect. And with more beer and booze vendors for adults. I wonder if this monthly event wouldn't be better served in a nearby park where more people can be accommodated more comfortably. Be sure to bring your camp chairs, the stage is in an empty parking lot :/ P.s. Norman's Riverwind Casino does a very similar (but even better) monthly food truck & music event, Beats & Bites. Adds bouncy houses for kids, concert style seating and better parking. Bands are world famous but trend more to middle-aged patrons (or old souls like myself). 80's greats The Romantics played just two weeks ago!!! Hello! "What I Like About You" "Talking In Your Sleep"! (Ahhhhh!!) All free of charge. With casino gambling just across the parking lot, and the same caliber food trucks, sorry Edmond, but they got ya beat.

Sat outside on their awesome patio and enjoyed the weather. Loved the tables the festival put in the middle of the street. Sat at one for a bit and chatted with friends and saw a bunch that were walking by. The music inside The Barrel was fun, such a great atmosphere. They had drink specials and it was a chill environment. We then went across the street to Drum Room for dinner and they also had drink specials. Our table of 5 shared some chicken and waffles and left very happy after having some club specials that were priced at $4. All in all, was a great day- enjoyed the event.
