The ladies here did a fantastic job trying to put OKC first and that was fine with us, they were very friendly and were trying very hard to make sure we were well informed when we left. Minus one star because they told us where to park and take the trolley, the thing is when we found the parking lot they sent us we had to walk two long blocks in the heat only to find that during that week the trolley wasn't running due to road repairs downtown so we had to walk back and we ventured into downtown and were lucky to find a place to park a couple of short blocks away from the Memorial. This is a great rest stop located just over six miles from the Texas-Oklahoma border. It has a dog park, a visitor information center, and plenty of space to stretch your legs. If you happened to miss the "Welcome to Oklahoma" sign at the border, this stop gives you a second and even better chance to snap a great photo with it. The restrooms were clean, and there are several nice spots for pictures. So far, it's easily one of the best rest stops we've visited. Overall, a pleasant and memorable stop! read more

What a delightful stop! There's a humongous colorful dinosaur and rainbows. There's a lot of paved walking space for humans and pups. The bathroom is decent. There's a gift store with fun items and souvenirs. To be real though, the prices were a bit high. I would have gotten more if they weren't as high. I figure the money supports the workers and nice environment, but the items were way more than what I usually pay for similar items. Two ladies at the front info desk were fun to chat with and know their way around the state. It's nice having people there since I've been to many information centers that are closed or don't have humans working, just self-serve pamphlets. Piece of advice though: stay off the grass! There are tons of sharp burrs in it. You can't see them ahead of time but you'll sure feel them if you walk on the grass! They're sticky and hard to get off and ouch! Took our canine dependents on a road trip to New Mexico and discovered just how rare a dog park close to the highway can be. We've stopped at this Information Center (rest stop) numerous times--it is ways very clean and the folks inside are pleasant. The facility seems very well-maintained and is refreshing in the land of few options (aka Western Oklahoma). At Amarillo we started looking for a dog park expecting this to be a given. However, if there are dog parks in town, today, they were most elusive. So we traveled on and kept looking... all the way to Oklahoma! If anyone reading this considers opening a business geared toward travelers between ABQ and the Oklahoma border, note that you are more likely to be successful if you put a dog park nearby! While there aren't any bells or whistles (unless you happen to pack them when you travel), the Erick Information Center provides what travelers need most, a place for EVERYONE to empty and refill in a most pleasant atmosphere. This poor little stop on east bound I-40 is really not a bad place. Like most of our state travel centers it closes about 5pm but you can still access the rest rooms. There wasn't much traffic there on my last stop but the place looked to be well taken care of. There is even a nice little dog park for those car crazed canines to unwind in for awhile. read more

This is one of the nicest rest areas on I-40. The restrooms are always really clean and never smell. Great place to stop for a break during a long trip. Plus dogs love it here because of all the grass and the spacious dog park. read more
