Update at boarding and training at Okjen Farm. I've had my Arabian mare stabled and in training here for 2+ years with Linda. We had a set back last Nov. in 2024, when my horse was diagnosed with delayed patella release in both rear legs. The vet said to do hill work which I did in-hand up and down the driveway for 5 months. The vet said it will take a long time to strengthen on the low graded driveway.
In March, Linda and I started lunging with raising her shoulders and rear legs stretches. In June, we started classical dressage long-lining to strengthen her rear and patella muscles more. It is going extremely well. We don't see any delay in the right leg and the left leg continues to get stronger as we transition to working more on her left side in long-lining.
We had a long-lining clinic with Manuel Trigo in July at Okjen Farm, and my horse performed extremely well. She is currently finding her balance and can now do a collected trot, and piaffe for 5 - 8 steps, and a lavade when she gets a bit too eager.
My horse is doing so well with the strength training from the classical dressage movements from long-lining that I'm planning to have her broken either at the end of this year or the beginning of next year. read more
