I ended up snagging one of these cancellation for my birthday, which was amazing! Racine does a single seating per evening, with only about 15-20 guests spread around tables at the restaurant. You are seated promptly, given a couple of options for a tasting menu, and offered both a by-the-glass and bottle wine list. Since we were in Reims, the by-the-glass champagne options were interesting and thoughtful, and we went with those rather than doing a wine pairing. The dinner itself is actually a series of individual bites of food, with each of the courses consisting of several different items. It was all absolutely beautifully designed, and the taste was phenomenal. The staff were exceptionally attentive, which is to be expected when there are only a few guests, and Chef Tanaka serves several of the courses himself, which was a nice treat. The ambiance of the restaurant is quite serene. It's a quiet place, it looks over a garden, and the tables are spread far enough apart to give a lot of privacy. It was a very relaxing meal overall. Despite the cost, I would definitely go back to Racine if I visited Reims and could get a reservation.

I was delighted to find out that there were three or four options outside to which I could walk. This one was the most appealing and was just a 12 - 15 minute walk down the street. The storefront in this quaint little crossroads was on the vintage side but the signage was obvious making it easy to find despite the unlikely facade. The dining room was well kept and more spacious than one would think judging from the outside. There was an outdoor seating option on a side patio area as well that was not apparent from the front view. it was not crowded when I walked in as I was slightly on the early side for dinner. It got a bit busier while I was there. I was given a choice in where I wanted to sit and was attended to by my server in a reasonable amount of time. I had no complaints about the service as she was attentive in just the right proportion and the food was delivered with little delay. There were several combos on the menu. I chose a set that offered a 6-piece avocado roll, three pieces of sushi, three pieces of sashimi, six pieces of gyoza (which they called Japanese ravioli), rice, miso soup and a small salad. It was a little heavy and I could have easily split that much food with my wife had she been with me but I had not had lunch that day and was able to handle it by myself. The quality was very good and the price was quite fair at a little over 17 euros. I had a large bottle of Pellegrino and a coffee to finish. With all of that, my final bill was just over 24 euros. At the time, this was approximately $30 USD, which was a reasonably good deal. Overall, I was fairly happy with my meal at this place and would try it again given the opportunity.

What is so great about this restaurant? For the price you pay, this is amazing. Tons of seafood options and a bunch of other dishes but the variety of seafood is quite impressive.
