The crown jewel being their Liberty Playground which is great for toddlers to preteens. It has a generous section for a mini-town, complete with is fire station, traffic light, pedestrian crossing etc. Of note, clean restrooms by the kids area enhances the experience. The soccer field is gorgeous....and well maintained. Tennis courts are fantastic....and well maintained. Excellent baseball fields, multiple....are well maintained. Swimming pool for kids and adults....look great although I haven't benefited from it. The walking areas connecting all the above to independence branch of Cuyahoga County Public Library are paved with lush green grass and colorful floral arrangements with a lot of attention owing laid to landscaping. The Elmwood pond within the grounds of the park is a serene place to sit by. I've had the pleasure of visiting there many times with family, a generation up and also a generation down. We all love sitting there, chatting, snacking,in a peaceful environment in awe of the ducks, geese and if we're lucky, seeing the blue herons that come by there.

One thing to mention- you definitely don't want to miss Mill Creek falls. It's the TALLEST waterfall in the county. However, it's a little bit of a walk from the nature reserve parking lot (I think it took us like 40 min), and my only complaint is that the trail spits you out onto the road for a bit, but then connects you to another trail that takes you to the waterfall. (I wish it was more continuous). You can also drive there since there's a small parking lot near the falls as well.

Although it might appear like an overgrown plot, allowing nature to take back this area provides visitors with an abundance of wildlife. You'll see a variety of birds, trees and very steep hills. Although the paths are paved I wouldn't consider all of them handicap accessible. However, directly next to the picnic tables is a pond with plenty of turtles and fish. There aren't any grills but there is a restaurant called Park Place at the entrance. However, these paths are not shaded nor easy to navigate. One of the first hills was so steep it takes even an advanced hiker a minute or two to catch ones breath. But it's worth the climb, you really can't beat the view!

We did see several signs numbered for golf holes...but, it would have been interesting to follow the layout of the old course. My husband and I are in our 70's and found some of the inclines pretty challenging! (Also wondered what the metal structure was that goes down one of the slopes...looks like an old "incline" track for trolley car?) We logged about 3 miles on a gorgeous summer day and enjoyed it very much!

When I was a kid, it was called, "State Road Park" and it had a swimming pool. Well, that pool has closed and the park has been renamed. Also, there used to be excellent dirt mounds that we used to jump on our bikes. These have since been bull dozed and grass was planted in their place. In fact, a portion of the parking lot was returned to grass and a cell phone tower was erected. Parma added five new tennis courts recently. My kids take tennis lessons here in the summer and I walk around the lake and the paved walking trail. This park has a large playground, putt-putt, baseball fields, lake, two sand volleyball courts, 10 tennis courts, a batting cage, restrooms, snack bar, exercise course, disc golf course, and a pavilion. Every July, Parma hosts movies in the park. I'll keep coming to this park until I move out of Parma.
