I came to Oh, What a Bite on a Saturday. Saturdays are when the owners get up super early to pick up fruit and veg from Flemington markets to sell in the usually café only style store. The produce looks very fresh and wholesome as opposed to perfect (plastic) looking supermarket produce. I was on my way to the North Sydney Farmers Market on this particular Saturday so I didn't buy anything but it is certainly somewhere I'd go back to for a weekly fresh food store - it felt like your local small green grocers.
Even though this was the first time I'd been here I feel like I know the owners - Alison and Peter - personally. Not because I had a particularly long or deep conversation but because everyone that walked in knew them by name. They were so friendly and warm that I imagine people pick their wee café over the others in the immediate vicinity because of the service alone.
The coffee was pretty good. The sandwiches are made there and then. The freshly squeezed juice - especially the Beetroot, Ginger, Apple and Carrot - is a super bright energy boost in a tall glass. They have a decent breakfast menu, hot food, wraps and a few treats for the sweet tooth.
