    Gettin a cone. Yum
    Seth K.

I was in the mood for chocolate and coffee, and this hit the spot. It's a cute little store just off State Street, and the staff were attentive and friendly. I would rated five stars except when I looked at my receipt, I found the standard state tax of 7%, plus the1% food and beverage surtax for Allen county, but then there was this 3.99% "checkout fee". I beg your pardon? Having to ring up my purchases is a cost of doing business for which I should not be surcharged. What next? an ice cream refrigeration charge? It's only 21 cents, but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth, and makes me feel like they're being shady. Sweets on Main is just as nice and doesn't tack on surprise fees.

It is a cute shop with beautiful Fort Wayne landmark murals on the inside. The ice cream is good. They have some cute merchandise for sale. They do have vegan options. I tasted the vegan peppermint gelato and it was good. You can sample up to 3 flavors. I'd like to go back and try one of their sundaes. I thought it was kind of cheap to only stamp my card for one ice cream when I purchased 3. She said that was their policy. One scoop is one scoop, nothing large. I got three one scoop cones and the price was $12.

Front counter and ready to go freezer!

We enjoy walking up instead of the drive thru because it's nice to see the flowers and it goes a little quicker in my opinion.

Zesto's is a local Ft Wayne ice cream chain with two locations near where I grew up in NE Ft Wayne…read more(and a few more in other parts of the city). It's remarkably still around and more popular than ever! This location on St. Joe Center Road is the closest to my family home and the one I have the most memories of - my dad would often take me, my siblings, my mom, and whatever dog(s) we had at the time in his 1955 GMC pick-up truck (which he only used for short trips) and let us each get a small soft serve twist cone on hot summer nights in the 90s and 2000s. He would complain about the price, take a bite out of each cone, and we would eat our ice cream while people watching. Good memories. My boyfriend wanted to see some of my favorite childhood places so we stopped here last night on the way home from my birthday dinner (I always have room in my stomach for ice cream!). I got my childhood fave, a medium soft serve twist but with sugar free lemon and vanilla instead of the vanilla/chocolate combo our dad would get us. In the last 20 years, Zesto's has expanded their menu immensely and offer more flavors, more toppings, and even things like dole whip and Boston coolers! My boyfriend got a medium peach Boston cooler and enjoyed it, but it was a lot so I graciously finished it off for him. The medium was a lot smaller than it should be for nearly $5 while the Boston cooler was appropriately priced at about $6. Now I see why my dad always complained about the cost! Yes, Zesto's is more expensive than most other places like it but its really good ice cream, kind and quick service, and holds a special place in my heart! #worthit

(Grainy, greasy chocolate-like substance? Hard pass.) Chocolate I do like: Peanut butter cups! But they need to be made with real chocolate (sorry, Reese's) and they need to be big, so that there's an almost equal proportion of peanut butter to chocolate. Milk chocolate peanut butter cups are great, but dark chocolate ones are even better. I got a huge dark chocolate peanut butter cup to take back with me to my hotel, which happened to be around the corner. It was so silky and smooth and just what I wanted. Kilwins is the place to find all kinds of chocolate treats, plus things like popcorn and peanut brittle, gourmet marshmallows, food gifts and lots more sweets. They also have a full ice cream parlor in the shop, where you can get ice cream by the scoop or made into a sundae or milkshake. This place has outdoor seating, so you can sit on the patio and enjoy your ice cream or chocolate while watching the people of Fort Wayne go by.

The employees were super friendly as soon as we walked in and offered samples of the different ice cream. I settled on the three rivers ice cream, which was clearly one of the best ice cream flavors I've ever had. There was a perfect blend of cream and sugar in the ice cream. The waffle cones are also embossed with the company name and are made fresh. The waffle cone itself was also probably the best in the Fort Wayne area. It had the perfect taste And texture to the cone. The only reason why I could not give it five stars is it is quite pricey, but what isn't in this economy. If you're ever in this area and want dessert, this would be a place to try.

They may not have 31 flavors nor may not be super loaded with candy and other junk, but their ice cream is so frigging good and high quality - and I know good quality because I am an Ice Cream Scientist!! The texture is so velvety and smooth - not sticky, chewy or super fluffy - and the flavor profile is super dead on. I liked the Blueberry mandarine orange but I'm not sure if I dig the icy texture of mandarin orange(but that's my personal preference since I don't love sorbets), but Blueberry good with just a hint of floral notes. And let's talk about LAVENDER!!!!!! It was to die for!! If I was making lavender flavored ice cream, this is exactlt how I would make it. Smooth, silky, not super sweet, not overly floral/medicinal and without any other junk that might interfere with the beautiful lavender art they created. Come on people, give this place some more love. Try their lavender ice cream!!

The company is credited with creating both Rocky Road (1929) and one of my favorites, Cookies 'N Cream (1982) ice cream flavors. West of the Rocky Mountains the products are labeled under the Dreyer name and east of the Rockies they are labeled as Edy's, simply to honor both founders. Introduced in 2021 was the Rocky Road Collection, which includes the Salted Caramel Pretzel Path (SCPP) flavor. Get it? "Path" instead of "Road". This ambitious flavor has a salted caramel base, fudge swirls, pockets of chocolatey covered toffee, and crunchy chocolatey covered salted pretzels. Overall, I really enjoyed this flavor, so let's get the bad out of the way. It tasted like caramel ice cream to me; I wasn't getting much salt. Not a big deal for me, but it might be for others. The fudge swirls were also too sparse. That being said, both the fudge swirls and caramel flavored ice cream tasted just fine. As for the mix-ins, the chocolatey covered toffee and crunchy chocolatey covered salted pretzels (actually salty) are the stars of the show. Both are relatively abundant and pack a ton of flavor to make up for some of the prior short-comings I mentioned. Doughboy approved!
