I guess that's a positive. now the negative. holy cow the place stunk BAD! The bathrooms were filthy with NO locks on the doors, the drinks were stupid expensive and you did not even get an oz and the "coke" was no name cola out of a bottle that was so flat it was almost sticky and he used his bare hands to fill the ice!! Oh and while bands were performing the owner/bar tender would walk on stage to collect the glasses, causing distractions. He messed with the female singers mic and did not set up the sound system properly for that band so no one could hear her yet did it perfectly for the male bands (wtf??). Honestly thought the whole place and vibe was just terrible. the 10$ cover charge I truly hope actually went to the kids cause the establishment sure did not deserve a cent of my money. Just gross

The girls here are nice and they were patient with our group as we took a while to find the drinks we wanted. I ordered an Old Fashioned and it was solid. The bitters were good. My wife ordered the Sip 'n' dip and she loved it. I think the best choice we made was getting jello shots. Jello shots make any place or night fun. Drinks are well priced and the bathrooms are clean too. The outdoor seating is nice and you can bring your dog. Can you hate a dog friendly bar? I can't.

We enjoyed the better part of 3 hours chatting about our time together at Shell, trading insights on Company news, and talking family and friends. The Bear & Kilt was a great place to catch up. Yes, it's a bit noisy, depending what game is on the television, and it was after all a Friday night. However, with a booth, a "few" wee pints (I walked here, while Jim took public transit), and some pretty good pub grub, our time together flowed easily, and perhaps too quickly. The wait guy, was pretty cool too, and took my joking California requests for organic food with sprouts in great sarcastic stride. This pub is not fine dining (which is available close by), but it sure is a great place for friends to reconnect. Next time, I'll try on one of those hats.

There are 4 inhabitants of the little town but every last Saturday of the month, the place comes alive. And I mean it really comes alive. Every last Saturday a team of local volunteers put on a pizza night at the saloon. Starts at 5 pm and runs till late. The saloon is a licensed establishment but children are welcome. Creeky uneven floors in a building well past the "condemned" status (but way fun!) Take a group or go by yourself. Remember, only open once a month

Beef Dip: A piece of bread with a couple of slices of chewy and grisly beef, NOTHING ELSE, not sauce or dip. Poutine: The poutine was undercooked, cheap fries in congealed gravy. Starving, I tried it and decided to pass and eat chocolate pretzels until dinner was ready. My partner walked through and asked for a bite as he was working and rushing... it went in the garbage... Tried to feed the sandwich to the dog, even he was unimpressed. To send out food like this is an utter embarrassment! Avoid this place at all costs. McDonalds would do better (and that IS an insult!) ** DoorDash photo of the sandwich didn't save to phone. It was the worst sandwich I have been presented, with bare bread and chewy, fatty, poorly sliced beef. Even the worst road food is WAY better **

Let's just say there's a general dinge in the air. Within that expansive general dinge, they have 10 VLTs, a jukebox, and a stage with a dance floor in front. Border Crossing offers a few nightly specials to coax the strays in. Come Friday and Saturday, live music is offered. Thursday night from 9pm - 1am they get a Karaoke Jam going. On Flames game days, they offer $3.25 pints and $9.75 jugs. This place is certainly not a destination pub, but if you're in the area and you're thirsty, it's there. Word to the wise, just like an actual border crossing, make sure you've got your story straight before making the trip - it'll just be easier that way.

As I stepped into the pub, I was immediately struck by the atmosphere--a charming blend of dim lighting and décor that could only be described as dive bar chic. The ambience screams "we don't care" with mismatched furniture that looks like it was salvaged from a Forest Lawn yard sale. Decided to play it safe and order the fish and chips. Who needs a Michelin star when you can fry up some questionable fish and toss it with soggy potatoes? Let's start with the fish. What is this mystery meat? Is it cod? Haddock? It's hard to tell under that dense batter--thankfully, it distracts from the fish's complete lack of flavor. Now, onto the chips. Drenched in vinegar or slathered with ketchup, they still manage to taste like... well, nothing. If you're looking for a dining experience that leaves you questioning your life choices, look no further than here. It's a place where culinary dreams go to die, and if you value your taste buds, I recommend you steer clear. Save your appetite for a frozen dinner; at least you know what you're getting into.

This take it or leave it place is kind of nice as we don't have to go far to get a drink from the hotel. After checking into the Blackfoot Hotel, I walked from the west wing and right into the pub. Took a seat at the end of a small bar and looked around. Lots of locals hanging out, some shooting pool (they have 4 tables and a floozball) but mostly playing the VLT (video lottery terminal - pretty big here it seems). Was hungry and thirsty. They have a bunch of food and drinks on special. Ordered my pub grub and a few beers. Conversation with the staff was fun. There were less than friendly patrons who didn't like the only Asian guy in the pub monopolizing the local talent. I'm was there to have some fun and relax - it was a 14 hour day. If the "good ol'boys" take exception to my jovial nature - tough crap for them. The food is pub-food. Lots of grease and flavour - normally hot sauce and more hot sauce. Toss in generous pours of alCOOL and all is fine and dandy. If you would like the pub atmosphere but would like better food, you could ask really nicely to see if they can allow you to order the hotel restaurant food. All in all, minus the locals attitude, this is a good place to unwind. Cheers!
