I was apprehensive with who might be able to do justice and not ruin them. I took a shot with GKH furniture repair and restoration. I'd seen the reviews, and I now can say the reviews weren't exaggerated. When I first called Greg last November he was honest about the time fragment it would take. I unfortunately called during the holidays, which was not good. I later called in March, amd he told me then, sort of leveling with me that this sort of work takes time, like 4-6 months. It wasn't a bad wait and I was patient. The saying goes, "all good things come to those who wait," and it's true if you want a master to handle your antiques. I've sanded, stained wood before, and it's no easy task. It's a time-consuming endeavor, and I also didn't trust myself restoring antique bookcases. In retrospect the price was reasonable for the result. I now have an admirable place to keep my Ulysses, and restored bookcases my ancestors would be proud of.

They were heavily used since my grandma had 11 children and for extra money, she'd serve threshing crews at this table. The chairs were in terrible condition from wear and tear and a Rottweiler that chose to cut his teeth on the chair rungs. Greg Havenot, owner and master furniture repair guru, worked MIRACLES on the six chairs! Rebuilding chair legs that were split in two and held together with screws. I regret NOT taking before and after pictures, because words cannot describe the difficulty in the repair process. But they are sound now and look fanTAStic! We also challenged Greg and his son Damien with an antique upholstered rocking chair I inherited from my paternal grandmother. Greg explained it was stuffed with horse hair! And the cushioning was nearly nonexistent. Now, it's back to its old (pun intended) self! We are able to sit and rock on. Do not hesitate to have this gifted pro renovate your furniture. From dust catcher back to its intended purpose! A dollar value for these much needed repairs was difficult for me to anticipate. But the quality of the workmanship exceeds my expectations. How does one assess priceless gifts from our ancestors? As an aside, Greg and Damien are wonderful people. We would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

The poly was ruined and gummy, I tired everything myself...but they needed to be sanded all the way down and start over.....went with Dark Walnut and just love them. They did an oil base, because I have a Goldendoodle that likes to run around the house. It's been 2wks since they finished and I still can't get over how nice they look. He completed the exterior, interiors including shelves in a 4 1/2 day period. We just went with the the same color (white) and it looks so good! In 2022 we selected SVB Wood Floors to refinish our existing wood floors (20 years old but just a…read morefew troubled areas and yellowing). We were drawn to this company because they offered faster dry time and ability to stay in the basement while they worked. We should have done much more research. It has only been 2 1/2 years and the floors have non-removable stains, and plenty of scratches/dings. While the finish on our old floor stood up for a much longer period of time, I was totally disappointed with the continued poor performance of this floor work. And, please keep this in mind, upon leaving, SVB gave us an entire BONA kit for care of wood floors. About 8 months ago I called SVB and requested that they come out and give me some reason for the floor performance being so poor. They prodded around and said that the stains were not able to be lifted. AND THEY ARE VERY NOTICABLE. The representative asked what I used to clean the wood floors. I told him I was using the BONA products that had been left when the floor was completed. The representative said, that this product use would void my guarantee or any warranty. So now, 2 1/2 years down the road I have an expensive refinished floor that looks just about as bad as the old one. I do not recommend this dealer for floor finishing. They may have groovy equipment, but their process and support are sorely lacking.

Carlos was one of only two salesmen who came prepared to check the moisture content of a damaged area on our floor. That right there tells me a lot. Their quote was very detailed, and I think they were the only company that told us the brand of stain and finish they would use. Their pricing was also very competitive with the other four or five companies we got quotes from. We were very impressed with their dust control system, as there was almost zero dust left for us to clean afterwards. There was a very minor hiccup that resulted in them coming back out to spot-fix a few areas, but they responded quickly, and the floors look beautiful. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone interested in refinishing your wood floors.

Mike, Ben, and their team caused numerous issues and concerns…read more Their team was unable to color match existing antique hardwoods (as promised), unable to repair previously hidden water damage, and completely neglected cracked/damaged boards in our kitchen. We were left babysitting this project at every level. In the end, they took twice as long as quoted, skipped polyurethane under appliances, damaged an existing french door, and tried to add costs to the invoice without a written contract change order. The discussions were rude and unprofessional. I would not recommend their team at all.
