This is a small wooded cemetery by a creek that is rumored to be haunted. I have visited a few times over the years and haven't experienced any paranormal activity, but it does have a bit of a spooky vibe. If you visit, it's important to be respectful of the gravesites and headstones, some of which are sadly broken or have fallen over, and hopefully any spirits will see you come in peace. There is also the Ebenezer chapel, which you aren't allowed to enter, but you can view the empty room with a fireplace and window openings from the open doorway.
Many of the Odell family members are buried here, along with the Coovert and Harris families. This cemetery is a piece of Oregon pioneer history and deserves to be honored. While it's a wooded area with ivy, mossy fallen tree limbs, and possibly poison oak, there are pathways to view the graves and it's not so overgrown with brush that you can't view the tombstones or walk around.
Some of the graves are bigger and more detailed, while others are tiny and unmarked. If you are in the area for wine tasting or en route to Salem, it's worth stopping by to pay your respects to some of Oregon's pioneer families.
There is room to park just one vehicle in the adjoining gravel driveway, which is then gated with a no trespassing sign, but the actual cemetery is open from dawn to dusk as is stated on a sign. It's not safe to park on the shoulder as it's too narrow and it's right next to a hill with limited visibility. read more
