Long story short, the staff was gracious enough to squeeze me in and I was relieved. I did bark at a lady in the reception room that was talking on her phone without her mask. Yeah. Go outside if you're planning on taking your mask off, especially in a hospital. A one legged old man with bad hearing asked me what I was there for? Uh okay. I said a mammogram and he commented he could do that for me, gross......you old perv. Everyone he spoke to me I spoke low so he couldn't hear a thing I was saying....bahahahahaha take that! All the various waiting rooms are marked off with chairs that are "closed" to promote social distancing. Staff has all been friendly and very accommodating. The specialists and outpatient surgery units were very organized. Since I had to get surgery, I did appreciate they had me go to the hospital for a nasal COVID-19 test and they gave me my results in three hours. I will say though that their phone systems are a little bit trick and not the easy to get navigate. Also wasn't a fan of not knowing my exact surgery time until the day before; however, it seems like that is standard practice.

I would fuck this place up something crazy, and about 5 peopl who are Drs. would not be, they had to cheat or something.... of course everything has been f***** up from the beginning 2 hours yesterday with dietary and food services to get my simple God damn meals. I want two milks, two cereals and two protein drinks. nothing else. I don't want any of what you're serving. I can't eat it. maybe it's the greatest thing in the world, but I can't eat it. my stomach can't eat it so, looking back I thought they had it figured out but now that I'm remembering it right this lady pretty much did it all on her own so they got lunch right and then the lady fixed dinner so they screwed up in 3 hours. then this morning breakfast finally rolls around. we're the last people to get. it is close to 10:00 and I get biscuits and gravy. no cereal like I'm supposed to and I get the full damn thing of food. it's going to go to 100% waste. you want to see what the f****** gravy look like. look at this. you tell me you've ever saw gravy like this. this is what I'm supposed to eat. I don't know how much I'm paying but I'm going to call my insurance company when I'm out of here and hopefully we can get together for because they should not pay any more 15%. whatever room is whatever it cost to stay overnight and whatever the nurse's cost they're worth it. the nurses aren't worth it. the nurse in tax are worth it and like transport that guy that did it. the guy that looked in my stomach that was worth it but everything else I wouldn't pay their bills because they haven't accomplished anything and anytime you want something something simple act like a pillow. I took 4 hours the other night to get a god damn pillow. I can finally walk now so I don't have to depend on other people. I'm serious. I'm going to need f****** mental help when I get out of here. I probably ruined in my reputation. I don't give a f*** this place is f***** me up. this place is like God damn wreck. check out how f***** up this is

DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE, TERRIBLE BED SIDE MANNER!!…read more My cat was attacked by a dog. We brought her to our vet on the westbank but she could not do any x-rays in house and suggested Avenue Animals. We immediately rushed our kitty there and checked her in. We were told we would have to pay $125 upfront. The receptionist was very helpful, that's about the only person. Someone, I am assuming "messenger", came to bring our cat to the back asked if we gave her any medicine. My dad did give her a low dose a aspirin. (which he was just trying to keep her calm and relieve any pain for her as he was the only one home with only a motorcycle and had to wait 30 minutes for my mom to drive home from work to bring her safely to the vet) after reading more online he realized you aren't supposed to do that. Obviously we told them exactly what we gave her. The "messenger" had our cat in her hands (inside a carrier) and immediately turned around and raised her voice and said "oh we do not do that". my dad was already heart broken as he watched our family cat be attacked by a dog in our front yard. I immediately said "yes we know that now, he was trying to do anything to take care of her." Now my already in distress father was sitting there with the rest of us waiting feeling worse because this girl who didn't even know what milligram a low dose aspirin was essentially fussed at him when her main focus should've been immediately tending to our cat. She was ready to argue with us rather than tend to our suffering cats needs. As we finished up the signing in process the front desk receptionist asked how we were paying I was going to pay $125 in cash for my parents and she says $350. I only had so much cash my mom pulled out her credit card and just charged her credit card to upset to even argue it. The receptionist apologized over and over again for her coworker's behavior and for what was happening. We were put into a room waited a while and finally the vet comes and shows us the x rays explains we may be looking at surgery she says she's going to get us an estimate and come back. The "messenger" comes back with an iPad naming off all the things they will need to do, seemed like she had never had to deliver any type of stressful news to anyone a day in her life which is odd in this line of work. She's going back and forth sounded like she was unsure and then gave us a grand total of $1,700 (on top of the $350 already paid) my parents faces dropped, they were devastated. They simply could not afford any of this. This was the price without even having any idea on surgery price. My parents asked if we could just take her home because we couldn't afford any more care. They brought our cat out and as we were walking out the door the "messenger" again comes out and asks if we want any medicine or antibiotics and we declined because we were bringing our cat back to our vet and going to have to make some hard decisions. On our chart in the notes they put in a hurry to leave did not want anything to help treat our cat at home. As if we just you know decided to step away and leave just because we don't care our cat is suffering. NO, WE CANNOT AFFORD ANY OF YOUR SERVICES. The vet never came back out after we asked to take our cat back and gave us any advice or tips to keep her comfortable or anything. All these people do is try to make you feel like shitty animal parents when you have to just make do with what you have. I'm so glad these people have never had to feel the true financial struggle in this economy and pray they never do because it will hit them like a ton of bricks if they think it's just so easy to fork out $2,000. That's the end of my ted talk, just such a shame the lack of human decency.

I had to put my sister there for 21 days because she had a bone infection and a very bad foot ulcer. She needed rehab so she could climb steps and get wound care so she could come back home. Wound care said she didn't have a bone infection, despite her being in the hospital for three weeks, being treated for it, and a biopsy confirming she had one. The wound got worse, yet they kept insisting it looked good. The facility called me one 1/2 days before she had to leave, and they said it was time for her to go. Rehab had not even shown her how to do the steps. So on the last day, they kept rushing her to learn the steps. Needless to say, we still had to carry my sister up the steps into our home. Four days after we left, I rushed her back to the hospital, and she had to have her leg amputated. I feel because of the care at this facility contributed to my sister's foot getting more infected. She also had a foot ulcer on the other heel and was told by the doctor before we left the hospital not to use her heel at all, and the facility insisted my sister use a wheelchair to walk around with and push it with her foot. This is because she does not have good use of her right hand. She was told by one person that they didn't supply towels, and the next person she asked said they simply didn't have any. Everyone has to take a shower in this huge bathroom that has no ventilation and has not been disinfected, so we never use it. The toilet backup occurred while my sister was using the restroom, and her foot, which had an open wound and infection, got wet with urine and water. After screaming for 40 minutes, someone finally came and said she had to wait until the next day for wound care to remove the bandages... really? They let her sugar levels get so low that she almost went into a coma because they overdosed her with insulin. She could only get insulin three times a day. My sister needs insulin more frequently than that because she was not allowed to use her insulin pump. They said they gave her pain medication, but they did not. Every time my sister called them out on something or told me, and I confronted them, they would say they didn't say that or it did not happen. Until she started recording them for me. They were treating her like she had Alzheimer's, and she absolutely does not. The administrative staff was good. They promised me the world when I met with them to put her in the facility. I was thinking they were going to help us, boy, was I totally wrong. The evening staff was a complete joke. People were screaming not to put them in bed at 6:45 p.m. You can hear people screaming from their room for help, and no one would come. The evening staff were sleeping, playing on their phones, and sitting outside with their feet up for hours. I do have the pictures to prove this. The clothing they wore was totally inappropriate. Worst place ever!!! ZERO STARS!

So with that being the case, your choices are Ochsner or Ochsner or Ochsner, yeah. Post-Katrina, I have visited this facility more times than I care to mention, either with a relative or a friend. And this time is no different, I'm here with a relative. Review time: Entering the ER triage, we were immediately told to take the elevator to the 8th floor... No reference to which set of elevators... Guess me, my in active labor, aminotic sac ruptured preggo sis & her bestie have to figure it out... Ummm ok. Next we get to the area where she's "to be admitted" & no1 is there to greet us. Sooooo I pushed the "no admittance doors" and admitted, ha... Lol (classic me). So we fiiiind the nurse station... because there was no welcoming committee & then we're wheeled to yet another area. Upon arrival in the L&D triage area, "the correct place" (ER personnel sent us to the post delivery area, we needed pre delivery) we finally get some treatment & attention. She's admitted & we meet a myriad of people, some with great bedside manners & some not so great. Namely, Drs Moore, Pullman, Jordan & Super Nurses Brooke & Emma, ALL members of #teamoutstanding... and then the members of #teamNOTsogreat, well they shall remain nameless. I can honestly say the care, concern & patience shown to us by The L&D Staff, was phenomenal!!! If Alton Ochsner were alive, I'd give the ladies a shout-out & DEMAND a raise. The Ochsner monopoly, the find the elevators episode & the few not so nice L&D staff members, ehhhhh 3 stars it is. And only 3 because of L&D. A few other things to be noted: Southport cafe is all about healthy food choices Getting an appointment here is months out Navigating the hospital itself, is complex The whole Ochsner monopoly, I'm over it
