What was once a respected institution has been reduced to a complete joke…read more Note, they are now also going by Block Associates, while also still using the Johnson/Harkness/Park name and clout. We had been clients here for 18 years, and before that our families had been there for decades. HR Block bought them out and turned the place upside down and fired everyone who had been there long-term. Then they had no one to complete mountains of filings. Our return was given to them in March- it is now SEPTEMBER and we just got it back, after being initially told "there may be a short 2-3 week extension". At no point did we receive any communication, other than a short form letter saying some of the long time associates were no longer with the firm, conveniently leaving out that they were let go by the firm. We waited months for a call, left messages that were never returned, and finally when someone answered the phone, they sounded about 16 years old with absolutely zero knowledge of our file. I personally had to go in an demand a printed copy of our federal tax extension because they couldn't tell me over the phone that the extension was given, and frankly I didn't trust they had even applied for one. Finally when our return was ready (again, in SEPTEMBER after months of radio silence), they had the audacity to ask how we'd be paying. The worst part was at no point did we receive any sort of apology. They have absolutely no customer service whatsoever. Messages left with no call back, no in person apology or reassurance when I did go in, nothing when I finally picked up. They sure want the long-time client base, but have no interest in communication or customer service. Sad, my grandfather would be irate at what the company his neighbor started has become.

Checked in every month and was told various excuses each time. Finally on 6/22/2026 I was told that my Taxes would be completed by that Friday. I never received a call that Friday or the following week. I picked up my unfinished Tax returns on 7/06/2026 because I obviously don't want people who lie to me doing my Taxes. Ed had been doing my Taxes for more than decade on time every time. Then they let him go and the above happened. I'll never use them again. People who LIE should not be doing your Taxes.
