The special had cod, haddock, calamari, scampi with chips and mushy peas. Unfortunately, we made the wrong choice as the cod and haddock was a quarter of a fillet compared to what others were having. Due to the thickness of the batter, we didn't end up with much fish at all and there was only a small nub of fish underneath it all. The calamari and scampi were good, chips were okay. We doused out box with vinegar, but couldn't taste it since it was so watered down. Overall not what we were looking forward to. Next time (if there is one), I would just get a full fillet of fish and not the 'special'.

The weather was a bit gloomy and rainy, and this was the perfect food for that sort of weather. I was fortunate to find a small table near the back of the place to enjoy the food. I wish that there were places like this back in the States, but all we have that's similar over in the US are Long John Silver's and they're not very good.

They don't just sell fast food, they sell quality fast food - now there aren't many places you can find that. As well as the usual fish and chips, they have a wide range of Chinese meals, pizza's, kebabs and burgers to take away therefore you are often spoilt for choice especially since they have meal deals too. Home deliveries are also welcome for local areas with an additional £1 charge. They are open 7 days from 4.30pm till late so it is a great place to find some food after a hard day or long night out. The service is excellent and staff are efficient. Food is always hot and still warm when you arrive home. There is not much I can fault. The Famous Blue Star serves some of the best fast food in Liverpool.
