I had some tasty junk food at the Lobster Pot yesterday. This was my first visit to their newly opened branch in the city centre as they also have another one currently under refurbishment opposite central station. The take-away is well decorated and now has seating upstairs for about 40-50 customers in a comfortable environment with a TV screen playing satisfying music. Food is always cheap and the workers who serve are friendly and approachable to all your needs and enquiries. The service was efficient and meals where good value for money having bought a double cheeseburger (in a salad bun) accompanied by a tray of hot chips for just £3; this definitely filled me up. The chips weren't the best I've had as some were a little browned but overall, a good place to eat in or take out.

I'm American so I like ketchup.

Meh, I don't know what all the hype is. When I arrived it was so hot inside 'I' felt like a fried fish. Their was I only one table inside, two outside and none upstairs. Maybe this location is misleading??? I had to pay 2.50 to park in the garage nearby since no parking can be had nearby. I ordered the lunch special fish and chips. It was only 3.50 and came with a ton of chips. It wasn't very good. The chips were greasy and the fish was soggy-ish. While I ate outside I watched countless construction worker types walk out with big, dripping burgers and other un-pleasantries. Never again.

The Lobster Pot is a great fish and chip shop right in the centre of Liverpool and it really does deserve its central location. The staff here are great they are always smiling, always working hard and always fast to get you served and fed and on your way again full and happy. This place is great if you fancy a simple cone of chips or something more filling such as a large and delicious fish or even a kebab. The food here is always top notch and not too greasy which is a criticism you could level at most chip shops around the country. The decoration is simple and says everything you need to know about the Lobster Pot it is an honest and simple place which provides fuel for the residents of Mersey side. Job done.

When you are really hungry food always tastes better but I don't think it was just my appetite, the £1.30 I spent on a large portion of chips at the Lobster Pot was not wasted. They were perfect. A can of pop is 70p. The LP is always busy especially for curry and chips. Presentable polish staff were efficient and served a long queue quickly. There are toilet and seating for about 60 upstairs. A flat screen TV playing music videos provides a little entertainment. They serve kebabs but not pizza. The barbecue chicken was a very bright red and orange. The batter looked good. Having moved from its former home opposite Liverpool Central train station Lobster Pot has settled into more upmarket surroundings, just a stone's throw from the trendy and pricey Metquarter. Luckily this hasn't meant a sudden rise in prices and you can still get the delicious greasy goodness that the chip shop is famous for. This is chip shop food done exactly right. Want a big, fat battered fish? Done. Want a portion of crispy-on-the-outside yet fluffy-on-the-inside chips? Done. Want some sweet and sour or BBQ chicken in a hurry? Done and Done. Want a burger or some fried chicken? I'd probably leave it to be honest. The problem with the move is that you can no longer go and pick up a portion of chips and curry for that drunken train journey home. On the plus side it's just around the corner from Mathew Street so that evening of Guinness and jukebox favourites can reach a fitting conclusion with an ill-advised battered sausage.

Wonderful fish and chips and steak and kidney pie!!!

Great little place either for a meal or a portion of fish and chips before getting the last train home from town.

There is no replacement for quality and to be honest, I would rather walk across town to go here than to any old greasy take out even at 3am! The staff are always super friendly, and they do one of the best kebabs in town. Fresh, filling, mouthwateringly tasty. The litmus test of a good takeaway is if you're willing to eat it when you're sober and I'm more than happy to grab a curry or a burger from here any time of day! When they ask you if you want chilli sauce, the extra hot one, be aware that they're called Hot Chillis for a reason! Seriously spicy and flavoursome, my friend was once reduced to tears in a taxi on the way home after tucking into an extra hot sauced veggie kebab. Don't say I didn't warn you! They're more than happy to cater for veggies, falafel kebabs (yum!) and also, Halal food is available. Just the thing you need to end a long night out!

In general the price is good and the place looks smart enough that you are not worried about where exactly your food is coming from which gives you a good deal more confidence than provided by some takeaways I have encountered. I have to be honest and say that I have only ever drunkenly eaten kebabs here and by those standards it was okay, then again at those times any grub will fill a hole. In general a decent place and the staff are nice which is always good but I would say if your in the area it is worth overlooking Hot Chillis and making the trip to china town.

The first time I ever went to this place was when I was a student which is hard to believe given that I have been in Liverpool a long time. I can't find much to fault with the food and service which is good but beware that the deep fried chicken is very greasy so certainly not for the health conscious. Pizzas are generally good depending on one's taste. I once ordered a chicken and ham topping 9inch in diameter, which not only satisfied my taste buds but actually filled me up and I paid just £3. The crust was medium thickness with a crispy and rich spicy tomato sauce. The only negative I would note is that the interior décor is dated and there aren't many seats for it being the busy place it is.

This branch of Five Guys on Queens Square is one of two branches Five Guys have in the city, from…read morethe outside you can see it looks both bigger and better than the other branch on the top floor of the Liverpool One nearby, Having wanted to revisit Five Guys for a while after a good experience in Bradford and a not so good experience in Manchester, I thought this branch of Five Guys would be a good shout - and I'm glad I did. The service here was fantastic, to the point where I feel extra and special praise has to go to Gary for making my visit even more special, he made sure I was okay, helping with tables and even bringing my food over to me and providing me with a new bag and cutterly to take home my leftovers (the portion sizes here are huge!), he also helped offer recommendations and we began to chat a little, overall service was excellent. When ordering, I was also presented with a little piece of card to show what I could eat, and it seemed to include everything other than an HP sauce and of course the burger bun. The overall feel of the store was good, it had traditional Five Guys decor with the signs and bags of potatoes on the shop floor, but inside it did seem much nicer than the Manchester Arndale and Bradford branches I've previously visited. I ordered a Cheeseburger in a bowl, having disliked the lettuce wrap option as it seemed like it would be messy and make the burger cold, and the regular option with a bun wouldn't be suitable for me, the bowl did seem a little squashed and messy with a low of toppings, however, like all the cups/cutterly etc it was aimed towards takeout. The extras I ordered were: ketchup, lettuce, tomatoes, gherkins, grilled onions and grilled mushrooms, in my opinion, it was slightly messy but still most of it was good quality, other than the lettuce I found to be a little watery and the mushrooms a little slimy. My overall burger quality was good, although it could have been slightly presented better to avoid the cheese being slightly uneven, the portion size as mentioned was good with two thinner burgers rather than one big thick one, which some burger joints such as GBK use, I prefer the Five Guys approach. The fries also were great, despite ordering a small portion my bag was overflowing with fries, the cajun spices also added a nice flavour to it to make them even better, rather than the traditional seasoning used. The Coca-Cola Freestyle machine also is a pretty awesome, niche feature combining some of the most common Coca-Cola drinks from Coke (including all low sugar models) to Sprite to Fuze Tea, with my favourite fizzy drink being Sprite Zero, I combined this with vanilla to have an enjoyable beverage, I then combined vanilla with the fuze tea and also had a nice drink - for one cup it comes with free refills and with the quality of drinks on offer and the selection meaning you virtually can't get these drinks in any other stores or places, it is well worth buying a drink, and that comes from someone who generally prefers dining with tap water. Prices were slightly higher than you'd expect at Mcdonald's, and on par for a standard burger, my food came to around £11 but for the quality you don't mind paying those prices, this place is more of a fast-food restaurant than a casual or regular dining restaurant, although it does have quite a lot of seating due to the size of the store being large, slightly similar to what one would expect in an American diner, with tall tables, bar style tables and red booths. Five Guys also delivers via Deliveroo, however I find this service to be a tad overpriced compared to the general in-store experience, although out of all the restaurants on the site from Nandos to Pizza Express, I feel one of the few places actually suited to Deliveroo is Five Guys, so it is a good service to offer here, although the only time I'd ever think of using it would be when I'm staying in a hotel in Liverpool, not being from the area, and even then I'd be reluctant due to the delivery charge even to go such a short distance, for example they'd even charge the £2.50 or so delivery fee to go a short distance, although I admit this is not something Five Guys have control over with this being set by Deliveroo but it is still worth making note of. Overall, I am impressed with Five Guys, although it remains a real shame that unlike some "restaurants" which specialise in burgers including Handmade Burger Co and Gourmet Burger Kitchen, the latter actually has a branch in Liverpool's city centre in the One, the burger quality remains better and the same can be said about the service and the overall feel of this place, so despite flaws mentioned, the quality of food and service and the portion sizes (you probably get as many chips here as a large somewhere else) a four-star rating is surely warranted for Five Guys at Queens Square in Liverpool.
