It exceeds all of our expectations and is reasonably priced compared to others in the area. Here are a few of our favorite parts about VVCC. 1. Structure! Previous schools would switch out teachers depending on how many children were in class that day. Which left my daughter feeling insecure in her environment. VVCC reliably has the same teachers daily no matter the class size. 2. Cleanliness! Hand washing is prioritized upon check in. Before my daughter can join the class, the school asks that I take her potty and to wash her hands. She has not been sick at all this year. At previous schools she got hand foot and mouth, stomach bugs, and respiratory infections. 3. Flexibility! My daughter is crazy hyper and strong willed. Her teacher works with my daughter concerning her struggles and gives her different options to help her cope in the classroom. At other schools she was forced to be just like the other kids or leave. They really work with the children individually while still teaching them discipline. 4. Lots of family events! I never knew any other parents or friends at other schools. Here, we have family friends because there are meet and greets, harvest festivals, book readings, and holiday programs. 5. Learning letters! I love the curriculum they use to introduce and teach the pre-K class letters. They assign animals to a letter to help the children remember and my daughter uses that daily as she does activities at home. 6. Spanish immersion! The pre-k class gets Spanish lessons on Fridays and my daughter is picking up so quick! 7. Healthy snacks that change for diversity! 8. Great toys that are changed out weekly! She was my son's kindergarten teacher & greets us with a hug when she sees us. We go visit her every open house. Ana in the office is the gatekeeper. We love her. She is smart, kind & she has eagle eyes. Most of all you can feel she cares for each of the children at Harloe. She is so patient. When I'm waiting in the office I love talking to her. On another note, Nobody walks into school without her making sure she knows why they are there. I don't trust anyone with my son, but I trust her 100%. We will miss this little school. My daughter is very new to the school and has attended one year of preschool and is currently enrolled in Kinder at St. Pats and she is already READING! She's only been in kinder a few months and I'm so impressed! I was nervous when we first enrolled my daughter about her being in the same class with the same kids for 9 years straight (k-8th grade)... Until I spoke with an 8th grade mom at one of the mixers. She said the bond that those kids have is like nothing else. They look out for each other and truly have each others backs. They start highschool with confidence and knowing who they are. There is a lot of parent participation opportunities which intimidated me a little. I'm a full time working mom with very little flexibility however attending the after hours mixers has allowed me to meet other parents who ARE available to work in the classrooms and attend the field trips etc. I constantly get texts with pics of my daughter and cute stories of what happened in class etc. It just goes back to the community of it all. Mass at school has literally brought me to tears. Seeing the confidence of the older kids doing readings in front of the whole school and parents/grandparents. Watching the priest interact with the children and call on them with questions. The kids are so eager to raise their hand and be called on. Its amazing, very interactive and inspiring. It truly just validates why I am so happy we chose to enroll her in this school and community.
