After graduating college during Covid, I needed to find a ministry to join when moving back to Orange County and found myself visiting different groups. The Young Professionals / Singles ministry really roped me in and called me higher spiritually while welcoming me to their family. 10/10 recommend. Met my girlfriend here and have been loving it ever since. read more

Just visiting, tremendous people, clear sense of community even after COVID! Very welcoming, 11/10

I attend Catholic church on Sundays as this was the faith I was raised in. I was having trouble finding the right bible study for me. I am 50 but very young at heart. There was no present bible study at the small catholic church I currently attend and when I went to the larger one it was all retired senior citizens who had some knowledge of the bible but I needed explicit instruction. I still love my little Catholic Church on Sundays but have been truly transformed by OCCC's mid-weeks, emotionally Healthy Spirituality book study with my small faith group and the marriage retreats I have attended. They are very cool people, well versed in the bible and completely accepting of other denominations. read more

My husband and I received incredible support and pre-marriage counseling in the short time we were members of this church. When we got engaged in January 2013, I had been in California for only 13 months and my fiancé had just moved here from Europe. We were seeking spiritual counseling to ensure a successful marriage, and we received far more than we could have asked for. The church takes marriages seriously and has developed pre-marriage counseling programs to help engaged couples. They provided us workbooks that have practical advice on wedding planning, communications, financial planning, and preparing for physical intimacy. There is even a session on how to fight fairly! Because we were getting married in a short-time, different married couples rearranged their lives to meet with us according to our schedule and needs. (One couple is an elder and the other three couples were regular members of the church). We are very grateful for the spiritual guidance and honest input these men and women gave us. Not only did we have a beautiful wedding in May, our love continues to grow after our wedding. Having witness so many broken relationships, my husband and I are determined to fight for a great marriage. We feel fortunate to have many such examples to follow in the church of Christ. We definitely recommend anyone who is serious in seeking a lasting, loving and godly marriage to get to know the teaching and practice of this church. read more

Been a member for 16 years now, and my husband for 19. My brother is onto about 20 years, and his wife about 25 years. Since joining this church, after a lifetime as a Methodist, my life became more joyful and my relationship to God gets closer every day through daily time reading the Bible and praying, and finding ways to serve as a Christian in this world. Our current URL is http://ocregion.com/. Our church teaches and uses the Bible as our standard. Our worship is joyful, musical, and dedicated to worshiping God, our Father and Creator. We contribute to the good of the community and the world through many local church programs, and internationally through HOPE Worldwide, building hospitals, orphanages, schools, affordable housing, and a hundred other things. We have seen marriages healed, people's lives turned from unfulfilling to fulfilling and joyful. and families blossom. We have services in Spanish, Korean, Vietnamese, and English. To meet the needs of all our members we have vibrant and exciting Junior High, Pre-Teen, Teen, Campus and Singles ministries in addition to our Marrieds and Marriage and Families ministries. There are many support programs as well. If you are seeking a close and personal relationship with God, please make a visit. We are always happy to get to know new neighbors. read more

Church is a cult. I even asked for my baptism certificate in which they have ignored my requests multiple times which I needed in order to be married in the catholic church. They are very selective in who they bring into this church. They teach fear in people and not the lord. If you missed one service or had other personal issues going on in your life they would make you feel absolutely guilty. I would stay away from this church if you can. read more

I have visited several churches from a wide range of denominations and have found a home in Orange County Church of Christ. I have always felt that sound teaching is a priority and the doctrine is biblical. I'm grateful for the leadership and what an amazing family this church is. Through studying the scriptures and coming to a deeper understanding of the Bible I was able to change the track my life was taking. If it weren't for people investing in my life, walking with me and pointing me to scriptures I would not understand God's plan for my life. I would recommend this church to anyone who is truly looking grow and be in a place where people are striving to live like Jesus everyday. Love this church so much. read more

This is a church filled with people who actually strive to put the Bible into practice in their lives. They won't pretend to be perfect, but boast in their weaknesses as Paul talks about in 2 Corinthians 12:9! read more

I agree with you 100% Lila...we have a very cool Church in the OC. Fabulous preachers, fun yet convicting sermons and friends that call you higher. And talk about diverse...I am Jamaican born-British bred now living in the USA...and this mixture of people is all round the church. I love our community outreach like Feed the Sheep Ministry, Hope and MLKing outreach days. It is hard being a Christian in the LA/OC area with soooo many religious people - but that's another reason why I love the OC Church of Christ as you are encouraged to read the Bible for yourself and not just follow. It's not often you find your kids at the same place as you, but my 17 year old is now a Member of the OCTeen ministry, getting up on Sundays to attend a 8.45 am service...8.45 am on a Sunday...OK that's gotta be something much bigger than mom!! read more

We moved to OC 3 years ago & became members of the church. It is a great church with authentic faith & relationships. Go & visit.

First time to Orange County Church of Christ. Somewhat different than my prior experience of attending MVCOC. The music was a pleasant addition. I'm not accustomed to Women serving communion. Just little differences that I can get used to. The congregation was friendly and I love seeing so many young people. BF and I are moving to Tustin Ranch soon we are looking for a new church home. This may very well be it. We'll be back this coming Sunday :-) read more

Actually not all churches are cults (def: The word cult in current popular usage usually refers to a new religious movement or other group whose beliefs or practices are considered abnormal or bizarre.) This church is a cult. I had 2 roommates who went to this church who were extremely devoted to church functions and "fellowship" but in living with them it was obvious that they did not know God at all. They were very deceptive people of the worst kind and I realize that all churches have people like this in them but looking closer I could see that they were very different. I spent much time with them and all their friends and attended the church and singles ministry many times. I sensed something not right but I could not put my finger on it. After researching the doctrine and asking many questions I came to find out that they believe that they are the only true Christians and they are not accepting that any one else can be saved apart from their church. Their doctrine is skewed and they are ceratainly confused people. If you are lonely you will certainly find a place here, but if you are seeking Christ you'd be better off staying at home and reading your Bible. read more

I am very sadden to see some of the posting here. A few of the comments posted here are very misleading like: Wifey G., "and various other radical things I needed to do that contradict what the bible teaches." Jennifer F., "in living with them it was obvious that they did not know God at all. Their doctrine is skewed and they are certainly confused people." Tiffany A., they do make u give up your family and friends for them. They say their family now "Dulce M., "but once you get into the studies, get baptized, and emotionally connected they begin to set up their rules and their own interpretations of the bible. I was told to wear more make up so I could bring in more people that I could only date within the church, and the FINAL straw was when they told me I needed to leave my family because they weren't disciples of the church." Now, I have been a youth minister for over 15 years. I started in the Baptist church & then moved to nondenominational. I started attending Orange County Church of Christ because my youngest daughter attended Shining Stars Academy held at the church. It took me over 6 months to attend the Church, but before that I attended a men's fellowship held by another member. Not leadership. Not Pastor or elder - just another brother. In his prayers he found that men don't get together and fellowships outside of the church like women do, so he put an event together. It was this meeting of food, cards, and dominos with good conversation that let me drop my guard and attend service. I attended church and joined a Bible Study. For about 8 weeks I attended this study and confirmed that I was actually baptized for the forgiveness of my sins, not just as an outward display of my acceptance of Christ. I understood that Romans 10-9 was not about how to accept Christ, but about Faith. The audience was already saved people in the book of Romans, already baptized people. You see many people baptize as an outward show not realizing that verbal acceptance is one thing, but the baptism is the entering of the gate, this washes you white as snow. This is the only reason why someone would be re-baptized. I didn't have to be. Anyhow, I didn't know that the brothers I was holding this Bible study with were only there to answer any question I had and to show me what the church was & what they believe. I wasn't suckered into anything. I was not asked to leave my wife who is not a believer. I was not asked to leave any of my friends. So with tiffany & Dulce I don't know what church you attended, but it was NOT Orange County Church of Christ. I have met loving, strong, caring people. Yes I know that people have bad days, & I have run across someone that I felt rebuffed by, but that will happen ANYWHERE. So Jennifer this is not something that you will only find in OCCoC. I have been in churches with adulteress pastors, choir members sleeping with each other, deacons cussing people out in the parking lot & members having split congregations when a new pastor or reverend is appointed. I could name names of people and churches from San Diego, Ca to Atlanta, G - from mixed congregations to mostly ____ ones, the point is there is no perfect church. Orange County Church of Christ is full of people who love GOD, we worship, we praise, we walk we fall & we stand in the gap for one another. We have many types of ministries that meet old, young, single, married even divorced. We have services in different languages and we strive to be a serious word based church. In a nut shell we attempt to love as Jesus loved, reach as Jesus reached, understand and teach what he taught and live as he lived. We fall and know that we have someone that will be there when we call in prayer and in person. If this is a cult then all the churches in the Bible were from the church of Corinth to the church of Philippi. Please come & see for yourself. Seek & ye shall find, don't let other make the choice for you. read more

Thought to share.... I've been going to this church for 20 plus years starting in the campus ministry. I am not on church staff or compensated financially by the church. I've been through the great, the good, the bad and the ugly of "this movement." I have an engineering background and own my own business, so I definitely use my brain. I'm sorry if some of you out there have been hurt by some member(s) (same thing happened in the early church especially Corinth Church). But one thing that really stands out is that the leadership takes responsibly for their actions or lack of (depending on the case). Or at least the ones I know. Something I must say that rarely happens in other churches. Also this church encourages each member to check the teachings, sermons and lessons and as a basic fundamental in becoming a member: Disciple/Christian, to check what your leaders teach (Acts 17:10 Berean Challenge.) In other words they don't want us to follow blindly. Also having been part of this church in volunteer positions, I have treated people well and not so well at times, but with good intentions. I am happy that God's grace has forgiven me and those I've hurt had the maturity to do so also (Matthew 18:21.) It's kind of like a marriage, you never really want to hurt your significant other, but anyone who's married knows that you do at times. Again, we are not perfect nor is any other church out there perfect, but I do see folks here really trying to love God and to do His Will. We must remember that those inside and outside of the church live in a spiritual battle, and that Satan (the Father of lies John 8:44/Revelation 12:9) will do anything to make a person bitter against what is good. Also to any member out there, we should be careful in handling the truth, as we will be judged more severely (James 3:1). May I add that God cannot be fooled. In my 20 plus years, I've learned that God will deal with any bad person who may from time to time come into the flock. And have witnessed "bad fruit" be removed from leadership or the congregation( on their own will). Overall, the people through God's word, in this church, have taught me to be a better parent, become financially responsible, find a Godly wife, have pure dating, helped me with my past hurts from my childhood and much much more. I've learned that I am a sinner too and cannot have a victim mentality and that GOD (Matthew 18:21/2 Corinthians 7:10) expects forgiveness from each other and repentance. Lastly, I am noticing that other churches not part of our moment (check out you tube videos, articles on the Sinner's Prayer) are starting to question their teachings and are implementing some of the same biblical principles that we have been stressing for many decades (so we must be doing something right.) PS I encourage anyone out there to try to get resolved regardless of where you stand. Everyone will be judged based on God's word (John 12:47) I will give this church 5 stars when we all get to heaven! Love YBIC read more

The OC Chruch of Christ is a great place to worship freely and build amazing friendships and memories. I became a christian almost 10 years ago after studying the bible with a few guys that I met at the church. It's been an awesome ride so far. Each week I go to a worship service that is led by a band and singers and hear a bible lesson that is rich with life applications. If you need/want to be spiritually fed, this is a great place to fill up. But it's also a place to make a difference. The church has a ton of what they call "gift-based" ministries. They serve the poor, pray for each other, offer a childrens theater ministry, sports ministry, book club, divorce ministry, and more. The list goes on and on. There are also family groups based on geography and where you're at in your life (e.g. single, teen, married, in college, etc) that allow members to gather with other members during the week to share in fellowship, prayer, and bible study. The church, and of course the saving grace of Jesus, has helped change my life. Whether you're already a christian simply looking for a new church or just curious to know what it's all about, stop by on Sunday to check it out. There are currently two services: 845 and 11 am. Check out their website for exact times and locations. There is also a bunch of lessons and audio files on the site and the location or contact information for family groups in your area. read more

I have been attending this church for almost 18 years. It is full of real people that love the Lord. We are a family and work together to follow God's word. The services have great worship music that helps me connect with God. The preachers are real in preaching the word and sharing their lives. Many great small bible discussion groups and family activities. The best church. read more

If you love friendly people, you'll love this church. Of couse I may be a little biased... I'm in the band there. We are a bible based church that cares about people... I LOVE this place!! I'm grateful for the solid friendships I've built as well as the love and encouragement shared amongst the members.

Wonderful church that puts its money where its mouth is! Super supportive, cares about its congregation with tangible evidence. Never have I been a part of such a wonderful church- teaches biblical principles and expects you to live your life as close to Gods word as possible- not some watered down Christianity- this is what we all need in todays critical world- turn to God, love others and do your best to live his principles- this I pray in our Lord and Saviors name Jesus Christ.! read more

This place is incredible!! We tried with an earnest effort so many different churches and this was the only one "in our opinion" that taught and looked, felt and smelt like something Christ wanted us to understand. The people are real, loving and eager to help save a lost generation. The spirit of the church reminds me of one of my favorite scriptures. Mathew 11:28-29 - Come to me all who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest - MY YOKE is light...(not a religious church, just practicing...) read more

This church is strictly business, there is no God there. All they want is your money. On one occasion during the service all they talked about was helping them with their ministries and what baffles me is that they already have A TON of money. I would understand asking for money if you're totally poor but these dudes have fat wallets, the "church" is all money. What blasphemy. Using the Lord's scriptures in order to rake in money. SHAME ON YOU FOR CALLING YOURSELF THE BODY OF CHRIST. read more

Beware! Yes ppl are very welcoming and friendly but once u get sucked into there "study" group, things change! I was a new believer and had already got baptized at a diff church but I was told I needed to be baptized in there church and various other radical things I needed to do that contradict what the bible teaches. A cult indeed and I feel bad for all that have gotten sucked into this, I was almost one of them but thank the good Lord for giving me the Holy Spirit for the red flag discernment he gave me! read more

This church is a cult. Then again any religion/church is a cult. But back to this terrible organization. I agree that everyone is very sweet and welcoming.... but once you get into the studies, get baptized, and emotionally connected they begin to set up their rules and their own interpretations of the bible. I was told to wear more make up so I could bring in more people, that I could only date within the church, and the FINAL straw was when they told me I needed to leave my family because they weren't disciples of the church. They believe they are the "one true church" In one of the studies, Light vs. Darkness, they ask you to confess your sins to those you wronged and they ask you to give 10% of what you make ever week even if you lost your job and are struggling. It's just completely insane! I completely understand why people fall into this church..... the people seem great but they are all incredibly brainwashed and blind to what they are doing. If you ever listen to the sermons, you'll notice that the people turned to the church after dealing drugs, prostitution, alcoholism..... so its all perfect for them because they had hit rock bottom and according to them the church saved them. Basically, they feed off of vulnerable people. I am actually not condoning for anyone to not go to this church, by all means, go! Then you will find out for yourself after a month or so like I did, that these people are the epitome of brainwashed individuals. read more

I've been attending this church for 20 years. When I first came around, I had heard the reputation that it was a cult and that they are very legalistic. Truth be told, at that time, it was a bit on the legalistic side. However, if you read the book of Revelation, Jesus calls out many of the churches for various "faults" and calls them to repentance. And our church has definitively done that and more. I personally would not have become a Christian if not for some of the legalism (IMO), and I'm glad the church leadership as well as the members' attitudes have changed for the better. If someone seeking God takes the time to read and understand the Bible, then that person will understand that no one is perfect, which is the entire reason we need a relationship with God in the first place. I know I need God, and I encourage anyone who is seeking a relationship with God to at least check it out and judge for yourself. read more
