I was looking for an accountant for my startup and when I entered office, there was NOT A SOUL in…read moresight, no one in reception area. So I left, before i could get to my vehicle two ladies came out of business and told me to come back and they were sorry that no one was in reception area to greet customers. I told them that I was looking for an accountant for help with my quarterlies and various things, but that I would be doing the majority of my accounting through Quickbooks. I asked about seeing what services they could provide me and I was told that all the accountants were in a Webinar and they could not get to give me a service consultation until next week. On Monday in fact. Today is Tuesday, so 6 more days and i could discuss their services. So I gave my name and phone number and left..so far so good, sort of..Ok the firm itself is an Endorsed Local Provider (ELP) of Dave Ramsey. I am a big fan of Dave Ramsey and his principals. I just received a call from the CPA office, a mere TWO hours after I left and they confirmed that the appointment was still on for 9 am Monday, HOWEVER, they would charge me a $150 dollar fee just to talk to a CPA to see what the costs of their services are and if I even would consider them as a provider. Any business that will charge a person to just walk in ask them what their services are and what the cost would be is just plain crazy. There are Lawyers, Doctors, all kinds of business' that give out free consultations. I only wanted to know what their costs were, but they are asking me to pay $150 for that, that is ridiculous. My advice, is to stay away from this place,, If I could give it zero stars I would. I am also contacting Ramsey Business Solutions and inform them about these practices from one of his ELP's.

We engaged them for bookkeeping services, but not a single bookkeeping entry has been completed for any of our companies they agreed to help us with despite paying for their services for several months. They advised us to move from QuickBooks Enterprise to QuickBooks Online, claiming it would make it easier for them to manage our books. We agreed to this transition, but it turned out to be a huge mistake. Their agreement clearly stated that any additional costs outside the scope of services would be communicated to us in advance for our approval. However, they never informed us of any extra charges. Instead, they sent us an unexpected bill and stopped responding when we inquired about it. This is highly unprofessional and unacceptable. Maxwell CPA billed us on the same day they sent the invoice, leaving us no time to review the additional charges. We also repeatedly asked when they would assist with QuickBooks from another company, which they promised to do, but they never followed through. This company has lost our trust completely. The owner mentioned that the services they are providing are outside of the scope of work in the agreement that we signed. We do not believe it is, as the agreement clearly states that they help us with all bookkeeping and accounting. This falls into that area, and even if it is outside the scope of work, the agreement also clearly states, "if there are matters that arise which are outside of the scope of the above services we will alert you in advance for your approval. If approved, you authorize us to electronically initiate payment for these additional services." They never alerted us of additional charges. We were paying for monthly bookkeeping services, and they did not do any bookkeeping services after a few months of us paying for the service. The owner and staff stopped replying after I mentioned that the contract clearly states that they need to inform us of additional charges that fall outside of the scope of work. They pull the money from our account instantly and before we even had a chance to see the charges. I highly advise others to stay away from Maxwell CPA. This is the only negative review I have ever posted, but I feel it is necessary to warn others about this untrustworthy company. Their lack of communication and unexpected billing practices are a clear indication of their unprofessionalism.

Wow, this place is terrible. All I can say is they…read more terrible at responding to anything in a timely manner, and even when they did were scarcely helpful. As a recurring payment customer the least I expected was guidance about deadlines for forms and paperwork for a small business. None of the essential forms or documentation were ever submitted and I have been spending months finding all the various things that I hired them for incomplete. Things they never thought to mention. I was handed from One accountant to another, each as disappointing as the last. My annual tax filing was double what it should have been. I paid another service to look at their work, and they were baffled. Maxwell's error cost me $17,000. When I brought up the issue with the owner more than once, they explained it couldn't be their employees' fault because they trusted them, and offered no real options for resolving my frustrations, just that I could discontinue services. Whatever you say, big shoots. Adios. I've never had such expensive, useless "accounting" services in my life. Steer CLEAR if you're a business owner.
