Seehotel is a great way to stay and explore Hallstatt. I…read moreloved their warm service, they allowed us late check-in at 11 PM and kept everything ready at the counter. Breakfast was abundant and tasty with a mountain view Beds are quite basic but clean and tidy. Bathrooms are compact but easy to use. ONE CONCERN: They did not let us know about parking cost. They simply told us to park in a paid lot that costed us unexpected $20-30 for 2 days - atleast a heads-up would've helped.

The hallway area looks very traditional but the rooms are sparse and full of pine and white. It was simple but somehow also cosy. There is just one restaurant that is within walking distance. The bakery is about a 10 minute walk into town so that is also doable. The hotel has an outdoor pool (didn't use...was 50 degrees and raining). However, the room has a covered balcony with a small table and two chairs. It was just adorable. I enjoyed having a cup of hot tea this morning with a variety of teas to choose from. Interestingly there were two restrooms-one with a small sink + shower and one with a really small sink + toilet. There are 3 separate radiators so it's a great place to do makeshift laundry. Cons: A lot of morning light The online website we booked through noted the restaurant has a free breakfast. This is not being offered right now due to construction. You can opt for a breakfast in a paper bag for an additional €5. Need more parking! There were 4 spaces for 15 rooms Nowhere to actually open up a suitcase

Bottom line up front: the hotel manager is extremely unprofessional and has no sense of customer…read moreservice, and a reservation is more of a suggestion than an actual confirmation to them. See attached screenshots for the full scoop. My wife and I made a reservation at this hotel months ago for our honeymoon. We indicated to the staff that we would be arriving around 6pm local time, and this was confirmed multiple times in the booking emails I received. We arrived at 6pm, as planned, to a locked lobby door and no staff at reception, with a phone number to call with check-in instructions. Okay, maybe that's just how it's done in Austria, not a problem. So we called the number and a man answers. I ask if he speaks English and yes, of course he does. I tell him we are here to check in and he tells me I should have received an email confirming the reservation was cancelled. Alarmed and confused, I put him on speakerphone and opened my inbox to find an email SENT TWO HOURS EARLIER telling me in no extensive explanation that my reservation had indeed been cancelled because the card they tried to use had since been automatically replaced by my bank and I forgot to update it on the reservation. No call, no attempt to contact us or ask for a different card or anything. I asked him if I could provide him with a different card and reopen my reservation (since I was standing right outside the hotel with my wife beside me) and he told me the room had already been given to someone else, bitte, guten nacht. No "sorry for the misunderstanding", no recommendations for hotels nearby, nothing. Did I yell at him? Did I say anything rude or spiteful? No. I said "Okay, uh, danke" and hung up the phone. My wife and I scrambled to get a last-minute hotel in the area at twice the price I had been planning to pay for this one. I replied to his email after I had cooled down a bit with a succinct comment on how I believed he should have better handled the reservation and that I thought the way he conducted the transaction was unprofessional. He replied with possibly the least professional email I've ever read in ANY language, and that's when I decided to warn off other potential travelers on Yelp. Do not give this man your business, he could care less about the people who pay his rent. He sees you as a business transaction and not as a person trying to enjoy a relaxing holiday with your loved ones. He said so himself, just read the emails ‍

Breakfast was also included in with the wedding room rate and it was one of the most awesome breakfasts I have had ever. Fresh breads (croissants, rolls, etc.), plus so many different jams to choose from. Fish (e.g. lox, white fish, etc.), cheeses, scrambled eggs, bacon, a european like meat (kind of like luncheon meat?), drinks (including coffee from a most amazing coffee machine with freshly ground beans, etc.). Wifi was also available and included (e.g. no extra cost). The reception was held there too and the food was just as amazing for dinner. It started out with the traditional pumpkin soup. I chose the steak, green beans and baked potato for my entree. For dessert they had creme brulee, fruit and a small scoop of ice cream. Very delicious and satisfying. The wedding reception midnight snack was goulash which I had a piece or two of and yum! yum! Service was top notch. We went for 7+ hours. The music/band was great (different review). It was a night to remember. Amazing

Be aware though, this part of the hotel does not have air conditioning, but as it had rained a bit while we were there (late August), the room felt just perfect. We also bad dinner at this hotel both nights, and we were pleasantly surprised :) Reasonable price and delicious/good amount of food! Service was also great, and you get the lake view from the restaurant! I will be going back to this hotel, hopefully in the near future
