A Hidden Treasure in Uptown Whittier!…read more I'm beyond thankful to Tyn at Onyx Nail Lounge for recommending this absolute gem -- Little Shed on Bright Street! I was in a rush, preparing for a 60th birthday party I was hosting, and didn't have a thing ready. Tyn told me to check out Little Shed and to ask for Amanda, and the rest is history! The moment I walked in, I was amazed. This cozy little shop has everything you could imagine -- beautiful decor, thoughtful gifts, and pieces that just make a house feel like home. Amanda was so kind and helpful, and you can tell how much love and care goes into curating every corner of this store. What makes this place even more special to me is that some of the decor I picked up for my great aunt's celebration is still with us -- even after she passed. Every time I see it, I feel her presence and those memories come flooding back. Thank you, Little Shed, for creating a space where beauty, warmth, and memories come together. You've truly touched my heart in ways you can't imagine.

Also, their items are cute and unique, and they have great customer service. A couple of instances come to mind that I feel exemplify great customer service. First, the dress that I ordered for my daughter's college graduation last year somehow got lost in the mail and between the USPS and my apartment complex, it could not be located. Well, about a week and a half prior to the graduation, I got on the phone with Melissa ( I believe that's her name) and explained the situation to her. She apologized for the situation, asked me to select another item to order, and promised to have it to me in time...and with no extra shipping charge. I did as she asked and received the dress 2 days before graduation! I was elated! The second instance occurred just recently. I purchased a pant suit at full price $52, then noticed that it had been marked down to $25 for a holiday promo....the next day. Well, I felt some type of way about this lol, so I called the boutique and spoke to Desiree'. She was friendly and attentive as she listened to the situation and reviewed my customer history with the store. Because I'm a good customer, she accommodated me by promptly sending me a code for $15 off of my next purchase, which I just used and am now waiting for my order to arrive. I thought this was gracious of her and spoke well to her ability to retain customers.

Parking was plentiful and the main entrance looked like a business front, but when you get to the back it was super colorful with the banners hanging on the ceiling. There were so many shelves filled with various dinnerware, such as mugs, plates, bowls, molcajete, and more. I like how they had cups and mugs that were themed to sports teams and pop culture. My husband got 2 Dodger cups for $18 and the Mickey/Minnie and Hello Kitty mugs were under the same deal too. Checkout was quick and easy and we had a good time looking around and I enjoyed my husband being able to share a piece of his culture with me.

This gallery/community space/boutique/gift shop had endured the pandemic and a shaky economy, STILL holding space for events that fortified, uplift and support the neighborhood and community. This is the place where you can catch a live music show, listen to poetry, meet authors and learn about their latest book release, look at art and find a new art piece for your home and buy the most unique gifts around. Their space is filled with local artists, but traditional and modern, unique clothing line, progressive books and items that are hard to get. This place is too good to gatekeep and the prices are very fair and reasonable. For their art shows, they take care of their artists by waiving a commission fee and collaborating with local business to treat them with a dinner and drink. In a city where galleries feel cold and transactional, Espacio 1839 sets the bar for the art scene. Come by, grab your next book, buy presents for your loved ones and start your art collection.
