A decent sized crowd for a Wednesday night - an even mix of guys and gals ranging in age, lots of people outside for live music and inside for the bar. Was looking for a live band and some drinks after hookah at The Purple Caterpillar and heard music playing from Fore Street. Wandered in and was super surprised. Very fun vibe and kind of a dive - like being in a college basement. Nice bartenders, tons of giant games (jenga, connect 4 on the walls), and a decent outside area. AWESOME PRICES. Overall, end of night drinks: 2 fireball shots, 2 Tallboy IPAs, Jameson on the rocks - $25. Coming from Boston that's a steal!! The only thing you really need to know: FREE MARIO KART ON WII (with ID and credit card) We were looking for a more laid back night since we had to drive back to Boston the next morning and this place was perfect - video games with live music in the background (fun covers of 90s to 1000s music). $4 for a water? After a couple drinks at Oasis I ordered a water and was told it would be $4, it didn't seem to matter when I told them I wanted tap water. When I complained about paying for tap water and told them I though that it was unsafe not to offer free water to someone they had already served alcohol I was asked to leave. A good chunk of these reviews sound VERY familiar. I was also assaulted by a "security guard" in a way that was an unnecessary and excessive response to something that was not a big deal, leaving bruises on me for one week after. A staff member of Oasis attempted to justify the guard's actions by explaining to me that he was "going through a hard time personally" & apologized to me for the guard's excessive force. Women, be VERY careful here. In addition to the other reviews, I've heard horror stories from friends and strangers about the security staff here. My assaulter was also caucasian, dark haired, bearded, and short-ish. I have 2 words for you - Giant Jenga. Apparently the Lo-Dive Lounge in Colorado has this phenomenally awesome game? But, I myself had never played until stumbling upon Oasis in Portland. And let me tell you - it was fun, fun, fun! This is a fairly casual bar that drew us in with promises of live music and dollar drafts. And it delivered, although the "live" music was one guy with a guitar that sang Sweet Carolina and a beer song multiple times in the 2 hours we were there. Hey. I know clubs can get gross but every surface I touch when I'm there is always sticky. The drinks are far too sugary/weak. They only let (young) girls up on the ledge and didn't let my friend in with his military I.D. even after providing further Identification. It's one of those bars you hear about people getting roofied at too. It's very trashy and low quality overall. There are much better bars to go to around the Warf street area by far. About the late night hour you roll into oasis, you know what you are in for. Downstairs is a casual bar with giant jenga, outside is beer pong, picnic table and port a potties.Upstairs is a hot mess of stripper like dancing, dudes with too much axe trying to grind on you, a bachlorette paryty in progress and drinks flowing. It a fun stop on a night out and perfect when everyone gets that I have to dance because I had a few vodkasodas urge. It's always incredibly crowded and hot (time to invest in an AC methinks), I always have my feet stepped on by at least one girl who does not know how to walk in stilettos, and I've yet to visit without being sexually/physically harassed by men who are far too old and creepy to be out on a Friday night. All those things said, I rarely make a trip to the Old Port without having a drink (or two) here. They're cheap and strong so I'll put up with the creepers and extremely drunk girls who just turned 21. !!!OUT OF STATERS BEWARE!!! -IDENTITY THEFT & HARASSMENT BY BOUNCER- Upon arrival, I presented my VALID Washington State issued drivers license, which was immediately taken away from me. I was accused of using a Fake ID and was told that I needed to call the police or show my Facebook page to the bouncer. I proceeded to tell the bouncer that I did not have a facebook app on my phone, for which he harassed me calling me names and shouting expletives in my face. Luckily my ID is real and I was able to get it back, after about 2 hours. This completely ruined my night and my vacation. He was called a thug and told to never come back, even though when the police arrived, they never found any drugs and didn't even arrest him. Even after showing multiple IDs proving that I was over the drinking age, they were clear that they would never let anyone with an ID from Puerto Rico into their bar. My daughter was accosted in the bar on New Years Eve. When her boyfriend crossed over to her to pull her away, he was thrown out. In the frigid -23 degree weather. My daughter went after him and was thrown out as well, again into the dangerously cold weather, more importantly given no reason for throwing her out. She was not allowed to go back in to get her jacket from the coat check area. When she asked to be allowed back in to get her coat (she still has the ticket), she was told "I don't care", and to move away from the entrance to make way for those waiting to pay their entrance fee. I post at least one star because apparently she was told that the bar had a good reputation. This behavior is unconscionable and should not be allowed continue. My advice, keep your coat on and just stand in the corner staying silent. read more

My friends and I loved this place because it was so different from anything we find in our local. They have life size connect four on the walls, life size jenga, a huge outdoor area, and a nightclub atmosphere upstairs. This allowed for wonderful socialization. There was plenty to enjoy and was very different from other bar experiences. Yes there are port-a-potties out back but go upstairs and there are some nice bathrooms. It was fun but got crowded as the night went on. Drinks were cheap to us but we don't have much reference to the Portland market as we were on vacation. I would recommend this for a late night stop to enjoy some fun. read more

stumbling through the old port wiith the birthday crew. after a few stops it was time to step it up a notch and do some "clubbing" straight in and i am greeted by one of the most fantastic things ever a quickie bar with 24 oz PBR mega tall boys served complete with a brown paper bag. short line and i'm in the upstairs dance music blaring and flourescent colors everywere. While on a much needed weekend getaway, we had a nice dinner and wandered down the street to a short line into the most open bar area on the street. We patiently waited 45 mins as the second couple inline, the bouncer was friendly with the first and admitted the sire was at capacity but allowed them to wander In after about 10min. No worries since that means we're next....30 mins later and after watching 5 ppl walk out we ask how many need to leave to get us in...the bouncer says two. Another twenty pass and the very young line behind us was getting antsy, we finally get the nod only to be asked for 10 dollars cash for cover. No where on their signs or did the bouncer in nearly an hour mention the cash needed, we offered to run a card or Venmo and mentioned how cash was less than ideal in these trying times. It quickly became clear that the bouncer just wanted his also young friends behind us to more quickly be admitted, he claimed everyone knows of the cover...even though we're from out of state. I think you guys did an awesome job on New Years Eve. I was there from 7 until 11 or so (work at 4am) but you guys made it worth it. The "VIP cut line" was awesome. I also loved the cheap drinks, beers....and who can forget the RUM BUCKET! One thing I think you guys should do random specials. I know 50 cent drinks are on Thursday but maybe one night on Fri or Sat, even for half an hour, do $2 wells or $2 shots. Word will spread fast. You guys should try a destination theme party. An example would be: spring break you can do a Cancun theme. Tequila, mojito and margarita specials. Decorate as if we were in Cancun etc. It's just a thought. If I could give no stars I would. I don't know if these bouncers all have 5th grade educations or why they act like meat heads but one of them took my I.D and refused to give it back. While handing him my license, he saw my I. D that says "police" on it (I'm a police officer). Wouldn't tell me why and wouldn't even acknowledge I was there. After waiting outside not knowing what they were doing...two Portland cops came up and started running me for warrants? All this just came out of left field. The bouncer handed the Portland cop my I.D and said I was intoxicated even though I literally had one beer hours before. After talking to the officers, we both just came to the conclusion that these bouncers were just a bunch of clowns. I still have no idea what I did to lead them to believe I was even slightly drunk. After reading these reviews, it looks like the bouncers have a history of discriminating everyone, LGBTQ, military, police officers, etc. These bouncers need to learn they're place. read more

From their cornhole to the huge jenga, to the outdoor music, the summertime is the time to get to Oasis. Oasis may actually be the best club-like spot in Portland, ME, but that isn't saying much. Maybe I'm used to REAL clubs in NYC, but for what it's worth, Oasis was "aight." They make a big deal about checking ID's, which is pretty cool. They have a bar & patio section. The upstairs sports the dancehall. The DJ was decent & the dance floor was kinda small, but it worked. They're plenty of cute girls walking around w/ tasty $3 shots. My friend had like 20 of them. Needless to say, she had a WAY better time then I did. They also had tall boys of PBR inside a paper bag & that was pretty cute. They were a LOT of lesbians in the club (& in Maine, in general), which is fine, but sometimes I find lesbians to be so over-board about certain things. While I was dancing I bumped arms with some chic & in a real butch voice I was told nastily to watch my arms. REALLY??!!?!?!? I mean, bumping into people is expected in a club! I saw her bump into like 50 girls while she was dancing & she said nothing to them. In fact, she smiled at some of them.
