The steaks were cooked to perfection during my visits. I heard chicken was a bit dry. Veggies were delicious. Desserts were delicious and rich. The decor for one event was beautiful and extravagant, the other elegant. I've had access to a few rooms, a beautiful elevated outdoor terrace, and the classy but also sassy bar. When the weather is cool they place heaters on the outdoor patio. This is where my friends and I gathered for coffee as the celebration was winding down. The flooring was a bit outdated and both carpeted and non-carpeted areas. A bit musty smelling. The restrooms did not seem to have ventilation, leaving foul stagnant scents. The finishing touch we asked our server at the end of our meal for coffee, subsequently (45 minutes later) and requesting two additional servers bring coffee, we received it. The time spent with friends is enjoyable, my food was enjoyable. The bar staff allows for an entertaining time. If they place fans in the restrooms, and replace the musty carpeting or wallpaper it'll be great. Not holding the 45 minute coffee wait against anyone.

You can almost got on with short notice and even fees during peak times are not bad. The course is pretty well maintained and good for beginner and intermediate play. And although the driving range is out of the way, you can get a token and a glass of wine on the cheap However, there are some super annoying things. I don't love teeing off on a par 3. There are not a lot of water hazards. But the most bothersome thing is the lax standards for a country club. People in jeans, t-shirts, spandex leggings and tank tops. You see groups of 5 and 6 frequently. People have their kids hanging on to the back of the cart and driving around. It's just not classy. And we got paired with some moron with a Trump towel and crap on his bag. Leave your nonsense at home. Baraboo already has a garbage reputation - no need to reinforce it.

The course has a lot of character with mature trees and lots of elevation changes. Watch out for #8! It feels like a whole they wedged into the middle of the course and it doesn't quite fit right. A good tee shot might give you a good look through a narrow opening in the trees to an uphill approach to the green. Figure on a drive, pitch, then long club to get to the green. It is what it is. Other holes shorten your tee shot with a creek, ravine, or other feature. If you like to let the big dog eat, you'll have to wait a few holes. I don't think we hit driver until #5. There are plenty of scenic views as it sits at the foot of the hills of Baraboo. It's quite beautiful, especially with the fall colors in full swing. Watch for the deals and hit this course when you get a chance. A few memorable holes will stick in your head and make you want to come back for another round!

Worst service experience I've had at a restaurant. I came…read morehere with my parents bc we were looking for a bar with pool and darts and this one was almost empty and had a nice atmosphere. Drinks were not bad. When we were playing pool, a ball got stuck at the end of our game, and when my mother went up to tell the bartender woman she offered a replacement. My mother asked if we could play again on the table and she said yes, but the cue ball got immediately stuck. My mother asked the woman for a replacement ball or a refund, and she suddenly became really rude and said that she warned us that would happen and was raising her voice at us halfway across the room (again, not crowded). So we left. Also, my mother had not been drinking with us, and we had been in there for about half an hour up to that point. Really weird

Knowing that, this place is great, especially on Tuesday when there is line dancing and wing specials for 50-75 cents each (the price has fluctuated over the past couple of years). Their fries, fried pickles, southwestern eggrolls, and ranch are all solid. So, knowing this - I'm all for it. If you're expected a gourmet burger from here, go elsewhere, but some snackable foods and cheap drinks, sign me up. Happy Hopping

We were in town and looking for a good place to eat and excited to try this joint, with a 4.4 star…read morerating. We've always had good food in Madison and even though we wanted to get home after a long day, we thought it would be worth the delay. Unfortunately, this time, it wasn't worth it. I feel like it's time and money wasted. I'll get to details, but I'm mainly basing this review on the quality of the food I received. Before getting to the food, our service was great. Our server was a bit slow considering there were only 3 tables (including us) occupied. Or it's more of a relaxed atmosphere, so she was just giving us a lot of time to look over the menu. But aside from that, she was friendly, helpful, and kind. Atmosphere is on the dark side. There are two screens to play games (golf, etc) on two corners of the building. I think there are plenty of options, but we were mainly in for food, and didn't really get much info on the games. I did ask whether they were run on a reservation basis, and the hostess (who was also our server) said yes. She didn't mention any pricing, so I'm not sure what the details on that is. Margarita special $5 This was great. Not overly sweet, and just the right amount of booze. It came in a whiskey cup rather than a margarita one. 3sheep chaos pattern on draft Price for draft beer is not cheap, and the beer was great. The glass it came in was super clean, but also warm. I think it just came out of the dishwasher... So clean, but beer glasses should be cold on principle. Wings The description says these are baked, and then fried before tossed in their sauce. The sauce is yummy. The wings are a fairly large size. But I think they forgot to fry it. The skin on the wings weren't at all crispy, but kinda mushy. The meat was well cooked, but also on the dry side. The celery sticks and carrot rings on the side were super fresh and crispy. Blind burger with side salad I ordered it done medium. It came out very well done. For a wagyu, it lacked fat content, and cooked for too long, so it was very dry. We had just hiked 4 hours at Devil's Lake and quite hungry, but I couldn't finish it. Seasoning was great though. And the side salad was also very fresh. Brussels sprouts Something I haven't done in the last 15 years... I had to ask them to redo it. It came out with underdone Brussels. Interestingly, after I asked them to heat it up more for me, it came out perfect, with the right amount of searing on all the cut sides. Overall, it feels like the kitchen was having a bad day and bad timing - wings needed to get in the fryer for longer, burger should've been out of the pan sooner, Brussels should've stayed in longer. For the prices I paid, I expect better food. Especially since the kitchen knows how to fix their stuff! It was like they put 70% into all the dishes until I spoke up. Would I go back? Nope. Not convinced that the 4.4 rating is justified for me.

The country club as a whole is actually pretty small, which surprised me. It definitely gives off quaint and exclusive vibes. Being on Beaver Lake, I'm assuming it costs a pretty penny to be a member, but we were glad to just be guests for the day! This wedding reception was held primarily both on the sprawling outdoor patio and in the 'Beaver Lake Room' of the club. The patio is triple-tiered overlooks the entire lake. A gorgeous setting. I thought the service for the evening was great! All of the staff seemed to work seamlessly to keep up with the 150+ guests. The multi-course dinner came out quickly and near the same time for almost everyone, plates and cutlery were removed so timely, and wine/water glasses were continuously refilled. All in all, this was a wonderful experience. It sounds like they host lots of events, from fundraisers to golf outings and banquet, and beyond. So maybe we'll one day return!
