Discount City has been around for over 25-30 years!…read more It was here when I rented a studio apt around the corner back in the 90's. I still come here to buy cheap stuff, and I don't expect it to last forever. On a Monday, I dropped by to shop for drain stoppers. This store has a little bit of everything. Way in the back they have a small grocery area with coolers, freezers, and sacks of rice. They have aisles of canned foods, HABA (health and beauty), stationery, and cheap hardware. Up front, they have a huge selection of balloon designs. Also, incense and candles. Why 3-stars? Narrow aisles and the smell of urine. Your aisles are narrow. Then some are made very narrow by having merchandise boxes stacked on the floor. Someone in a wheelchair will have a problem. Also, your store isn't clean. The checkout area smells like someone used it for a bathroom. Who the heck pees on the floor in a store? But if you're looking for something at a low price, come try Discount City. I decided that yesterday would be a good day to especially because I was accompanied by my little sister who was new to the area. I go in right away they take glances at me as I look at the items and I see what they have. There was an old lady and another girl. As I'm walking through the store the old lady doesn't say anything but continues to stare. She then tells me that to walk around the store I must leave my little sisters back pack and my purse on a cart. What bothered me is that my partner has had a similar experience of hostility. Almost like the lady thinks we don't have the money to shop there and we'll steal something. I was considering buying an item from them but after that experience I will not see myself in there. It's a place of racism and discrimination, especially when others that go in that are white don't have that same experience.

From our very first interaction to our final goodbye, she was kind, responsive, informative and reliable. She was very quick to answer any questions, she made the process easy, stress free, and accommodating. Her communication was always spot on and not once did I wonder what was happening or what needed to be done. Not only is she professional, she does amazing work. Like a magician, she arrived with her supplies and very quickly got to work creating this beautiful decor. Our arrangement came out better than expected, was high quality and everyone loved it. As an individual, she is very sweet and personable; she went above and beyond by coming back to retrieve the arrangement after the party ended (was great not to have to figure out the cleanup of so many bulky balloons) and she even separated some balloons to gift to the children in attendance so they could play with them.
