The doctor who did my physical was very nice and quick, he talked to me about my new job and about his children. For starters, they have really good hours. Being that it's Wayne State, I see a doctor and a resident doctor each time I'm here. Not that I have a problem seeing a Physicians Assistant, but it's nice to meet with a doctor sometimes. The Residents are all medical student graduates who are doing their residency and they do a wonderful job. The gal that I see is really professional and thorough. Even if it's for a simple thing, she asks lots of questions instead of letting me do all the talking. Also, I've had to come in for a few appointments that were last minute do to aches and pains, and the staff here always finds a way to squeeze me in. I don't expect to be seen the same day, but they do make the time. (I can wait 3 weeks for a check up or med refill, but sometimes nature takes it's course and I can't wait that long!) The office is located right behind Crittenton Hospital in the professional building. It's on the second floor and immediately off the elevator. There's a nice big sign so you know your in the right place. It's also amongst other doctors offices, so I'm sure if you needed something else you could probably wander the halls to find something. There's also a pharmacy on the ground floor. Not that I need to use it but if you did, it's conveniently located right there. Also, parking is easy and there's plenty of handicapped spots for those that require it. Overall, I love WSU Physicians group. I know they have multiple locations around Metro Detroit, and I highly recommend them. I like being part of a "learning" group. Trust me, it's worth it. Young fresh doctors with plenty of knowledge are here, along with seasoned vets as well. I will be back in the future!

The last time we left after seeing the doctor, there was no one at the two front desks to make a followup appointment. I was instructed to call later to make an appointment for my family member. While it is overflowing with medical students, residents and doctors, the surgery clinic is CLEARLY understaffed when it comes to their support team. Good luck with reaching anyone there.

The doctors themselves and Karen are nice but the bookkeeper and whoever does their scheduling are a joke. The general attitude about their overbooking is "oh well we are working on it". However, I'm giving 2 stars because her support staff (receptionists) are so incompetent and unprofessional, it's unreal. I had an abnormal exam result and had to schedule an appointment for a procedure to determine if I have any precancerous or cancerous cells. When the doctor called me for this, she tried twice to transfer me to the desk and no one answered for 20 minutes. I just hung up. Then she called me back and tried again. No answer. She called me again and told me that someone would call me, and then I had to go to class so I forgot about it. I happened to have an appointment for something else a week or two later in between and she was shocked when I told her that I was never contacted to make that appointment, so I made it while checking out. So I did that, and went to the appointment, only to have a receptionist chuckle because she said I'd just had the same exam last month. As if I could forget that that quick. Then a different receptionist called me up and told me that they had put in the wrong insurance codes when they made this appointment, and so they couldn't see me for it, and they didn't have the equipment or time to do the procedure so we'd have to reschedule for 2 weeks. To check if I have cancer or precancerous cells. Which I might. We're going on 2 months ago in discovering this possibility. AND she discussed the procedure by name at the window, with other patients in line right behind me When I called my sister for an earlier ride than expected (my car is in the shop so I had to get dropped off) and told her they had to reschedule because it was scheduled wrong, this receptionist slammed the glass door closed (I was being completely calm). This in addition to them always trying to schedule me on a Tuesday or Thursday, seconds after I tell them that those days aren't good for me, and a 5 day stint of them giving me the runaround to get an important prescription refilled. Like I said, the doctor is amazing. Her receptionists are absolute garbage.

It was…read morebasically word of mouth that I was encouraged to switch from Women's First in Royal Oak and delivering at Beaumont to The ABC. And I honestly can't express how extraordinary my labor experience was. The level of care provided to me and my beautiful son was unmatched. When I was a patient at Women's First - I felt there was very little attention paid to educating first time parents and the overall care was very industrialized (even from the Midwife) it's basically churning out care and I have really heard negative things about the coldness of care at Beaumont. Without getting too deep into the details - I had a very long labor (30+ hours) - ended up getting drugs - and pushed for 4 straight hours. Every step of the way my hand was held by the beautiful woman of the ABC (Midwives Emily, Andrea, Danielle and Nurses Christy & Jesse) all supported me like family - joined by our doula (Metro Detroit Doula Service (a must) and my husband. It was difficult and unbelievable all wrapped in one huge life changing experience. We also were so well cared for after the fact in the wonderful ABC (we stayed 2 nights) and I really believe the success my son & I have had with breastfeeding is due to the great guidance of the nurses. I wish more women/families knew this is how your birth experience should/can be. I will sing their praises forever and hope they understand the valuable place they have within our family. It seems amazing care is rare these days. If you're thinking about the ABC you're in the best hands.

The nursing staff in pre-op made me feel very at ease. This might not be noticed by all but to be given quality gown that wasn't threadbare or with knotted ties and very comfortable socks was great. Each person I was going to come in contact with in the operating room came in to introduce themselves, explain what their job was and answer any questions was important. The post-op care was great, too. The fact that they phoned to see how I was doing afterwards and answer any questions showed their professionalism. I highly recommend this facility and staff.

The administrative staff is incompetent. By failing to provide the billing companies for the various entities involved my CURRENT insurance information - as opposed to what they had on file for me from years before - they have cost me time and trouble. I've just received the latest round of bills noting that I had no insurance coverage on the date of service, which is not true. Now I'm in for MORE PHONE CALLS AND EMAILS, in an attempt to straighten it out. Why bother asking for my insurance card and check-in if you're not going to actually do anything with it? AVOID this place - unless you want the kind of headaches I'm going through.

Thankfully, the surgery went well & the healing process was uneventful. The surgeon & team was professional. Kudos to Dr. Chengelis, office staff, & surgical team....keep up the good work. Thank you. FYI, one suggestion, for the surgeon, is the update in the waiting room should be in private. The doctor was talking softly & tried to be private, but the person next to me heard him. As soon as the surgeon walked away, the man next to me commented on what he heard the doctor said to me.
